“That moment when you want to fangirl about something and your friends...”
????
I don’t think we would be into the same show. But it is Blood Blockade Battlefront. MY FEELS! MY HEART! AND NONE OF MY FRIENDS THAT WATCH THE SHOW ARE TALKING TO ME WHEN I WANT TO FANGIRL ABOUT IT!!!
You are a lovely artist, and your characters too! But I am wondering how did you do the ground work for your own fantasy world? I'm been creating my own for many years but haven't started writing anything down until recently. And where do I start?@.@
I’m sorry if you wanted this answered privately, but I get this question a lot so I decided to answer on my blog for everyone to see!
First off, I need everyone to know I’ve been incubating my fantasy world since I was in 6th grade. I am 25 this year. Things you’re passionate about will never really leave you, so don’t feel rushed to meet a deadline! This isn’t work, it’s creative fun :)
I personally like to start from the high level then work my way down. What’s important about your world? Is the dimension unique like the Disc World book series? Or is your fantasy more about the strange creatures like in Dinotopia? Whatever the main “fantastical” focus is, hone in on that and write down what makes it special!
So start big > work your way down. What’s the next important thing? What are the main big ‘sectors’ of your dimension? What major ‘types’ of weird animals are there? Organizing and categorizing my worlds has always helped me so much, and they help your audience too!
Keep lots of lists, make lots of charts (and please keep all of your rough drafts and brainstorms too). They may seem half-baked now, but you might really regret throwing away your first drafts of work. Time really helps a lot with clarity, and sitting on an idea is never a bad thing when it comes to a pursuit of passion like this.
Good luck!! You will make the best fantasy world ever!
