Happy turnabout serenade day!!! I'm late lol, but I wanted to share (and compile lol) my thoughts for an AU I've been working on to celebrate! c:
MAJOR AA4 SPOILERS BELOW THE CUT!
This relates to my AU idea of Apollo growing up with Lamiroir and performing with her and Machi, with the fics centering around different first meeting and get together for klapollo because I can't help myself lol. I mean can you imagine Klavier having his life-changing encounter with Lamiroir but Apollo is ALSO there with his Chords of Steel???? He'll never recover. And that's what inspired this AU lol.
How Apollo ends up with Lamiroir
(FIRST TWO BULLETS HERE HAVE MAJOR AA6 SPOILERS! PROCEED AT YOUR OWN RISK!) The split from canon here is that Jove does not take baby Apollo with him when he goes to visit Dhurke at the royal palace. Thalassa still has Apollo when Jove dies and she tries desperately but fails to find him in the resulting chaos in Khura'in. Heartbroken, she returns to Troupe Gramarye with Apollo and eventually gets together with Zak.
(I guess this AU doesn't bode well for aa6 plot lol, but maybe Dhurke finds Apollo somehow as Jove's son and asks him for help, so he connects him with Trucy (a defense attorney in this AU, see below). Idk if she'd be able to get through to Nahyuta but uhhhhh hope things work out for them lmao!)
Trucy is born shortly after. There's only a 2-3 year age gap between her and Apollo for this AU, mainly because I wanted her to be old enough by aa4 to reasonably be a defense attorney (we're not in Germany, so you can't be a baby skefnskj) and also so that Apollo doesn't remember much about his life before Borginia.
When Thalassa gets shot, Apollo happens to be on stage with her, (either as a stand-in assistant or because she's showing him something idk), but he ends up getting injured too so everyone thinks they both died. Tbh, I've never really understood how no one realized Thalassa wasn't really dead lol, but they didn't realize with Apollo either. When Thalassa wakes up with no memories, she has a child clinging to her she doesn't recognize but calls her "mom" so she takes him with her when she leaves.
They end up in Borginia, Thalassa becomes Lamiroir and starts singing. When Apollo's older, he has a talent for it too (from her of course, but also those inherited Chords of Steel!) and joins her on stage. They meet Machi like in canon, and Klavier. (Klapollo instantly hit it off since they have nothing in their way at the moment lol, see fics below ;))
Defense attorney Trucy and Siren of Ballad Lavue
In this AU, Trucy is a defense attorney by day and a magician by night. Since she was a bit older when Zak abandoned her, I think she's more aware of what Phoenix lost because of her original dad, so she wants to help him by becoming a defense attorney herself, uncovering the truth, and getting his badge back. Kristoph takes her under his wing as a favor to Phoenix, and though she definitely senses something off about the way he interacts with her father, she doesn't realize the extent of it. (I think Turnabout Trump would be very different in this AU...while I do think Kristoph would try to utilize Trucy to put her own father in jail lol, I also think since Phoenix and Trucy can just like collaborate immediately it wouldn't come to that. Like maybe they still make the forged card but use it outside of court to pressure Kristoph into confessing... Idk tho, warrants some further thought I suppose lol.) As she settles in, though, her style is very much like Phoenix's, focusing in on the turnabouts like she does in canon. With her extra magical flair of course!
I think Trucy and Klavier would have SO much fun facing each other in court, since they're both performers. Klavier would set his usual extravagant stage and Trucy would add to it with her tricks and shenanigans, and they'd both have a blast. At least eventually haha. I think Klavier would have even more suspicions about her than he does about Apollo, considering she's actually Phoenix Wright's daughter. But he tests her much like he does Apollo and she passes the test, so they can start really having fun together in court. I also have been thinking about the possibility of them remembering each other from the original Gramarye trial and how that would affect their relationship...more on that later perhaps lol. Trucy also calls Klavier "Prince Prosecutor."
Trucy defends Machi in Turnabout Serenade! And the boys have some issues to deal with :) more than they can even imagine.
Back to the Sirens - since Lamiroir is technically a stage name, I wanted to choose one for Apollo to match hers. I settled on Lavue, the French word for “view” (la vue) – in an interview with Shu Takumi, he said that Lamiroir’s name comes from the French word for mirror (la miroir). Though he couldn’t actually remember why she was called that lol, he thought it was because her singing acted as a mirror that reflects the landscape onto a canvas. I thought view would be a good parallel of that, with its dual meaning of viewing a painting and also that nice scenery is often described as “a view”. Also it fits with Apollo’s perceive ability lol.
(Reminder that Apollo is LOUD - but Lamiroir manages to match him by making sure his mic is turned off at all times LMAO.)
As for Apollo's stage outfit, my friend helped me pick out a more masculine version of Lamiroir's - their hoods are the same, though Apollo's is red, and their masks have the same pattern, except Apollo's is a tighter face mask. Apollo also wears a loose white tunic and flowing white pants with a dark red sash.
Apollo is trans in this AU, as he always is in every universe including canon as far as I'm concerned LMAO. Because of that, Trucy thinks she had an older sister who died.
The bracelets. I go back and forth a LOT on whether Trucy should have a bracelet in this AU....but I'm leaning towards she does not, same as in canon. Idk why Thalassa never gave her one - what happened to her second one lol? But I liked the idea of her and Apollo having matching ones on stage.
