finally sat down and got through some Gilbert Strang LinAl lectures today! self studying math is much more fulfilling and enriching than studying it within an institution, especially high school. I’m really enjoying it.
Like butter
Hi, I’m Inopinion
*Hi Inopinion*
Hey, huh.... heh... heh... so.... I am an addict. But not the usual sort. I am up to my eyeballs addicted to fountain pens.
*Scorn laced glares*
Hear me out. This pen... this one right here.... you see, it writes like butter. It’s so fucking fantastic. Like I wrote with this one, and I thought I loved it. Then this one, and it was even better, then one after another I get them, I write with them and I think I feel like I’m on a first date and crushing hard. So hard. But they’re all so great. So I fill them all up, and then... and then.... I see gently used pens with gold nibs and I calculate how much my monthly budget is for lunches and I spend it all in one go.
*Collective sigh and an eyeroll*
And I’m super excited about two and like meh about one. And so I ink the Vanishing Point - Click, Click, bloody Fountain Pen - a Clicky Fountain Pen! And it’s amazing. It’s smooth and savory with just a gentle tug on the fibers. And so I ink the Platinum 3776 and it’s so crisp and flavorful like an apple on a sunny day. And then, then I pull out the Lamy 2000. It’s industrial. It’s maybe even ugly. It’s a pen that everyone swears by and I got on impulse. I don’t even ink it. I just dip it. Just casual.... dunk dunk... and then... Like fucking butter. It writes like skates on wet ice.
*groans*
Serious guys. My life has changed.
So a note on your consideration of the Lamy 2000, your handwriting looks similar to mine in size and style, and I just returned a Lamy 2000 F in favor of an EF nib. I'm waiting on the new pen so we'll see how that goes, but the German F combined with the Lamy's wet feed were a bit sloppy for me.
Thanks you! I generally go with an EF every time, especially with European made pens, because I know they tend to be a bit wider. It’s good to know the 2000 has a wet feed though, because (not gonna lie) that can really bother me. It might end up being similar to the TWSBI 580 for me, not a good pen for my journal but great for other writing.
IT GOT HERE EARLY!
Sometimes is hard to just pick one

Dye-Based Inks: Known for their vibrant colors and quick-drying properties, dye-based inks are a popular choice among fountain pen enthusiasts. With a wide range of hues available, these inks allow you to express your creativity and individuality with every stroke.
Pigment-Based Inks: If permanence and longevity are paramount, consider opting for pigment-based inks. Formulated with finely ground pigment particles suspended in a liquid base, these inks offer rich, saturated colors that resist fading and water damage over time.
Iron Gall Inks: For aficionados who appreciate tradition and heritage, iron gall inks evoke a sense of nostalgia and authenticity. Made from a blend of iron salts and tannic acid, these inks produce a permanent, archival-quality finish that ages gracefully with use.
Making an Informed Choice
When selecting fountain pen ink for your Lamy Safari or Lamy 2000, it's essential to consider factors such as paper type, writing style, and personal preference. Experimenting with different ink formulations and colors allows you to tailor your writing experience to suit your individual needs and tastes.
