Modern multiplayer games MUST have LAN multiplayer enabled
Considering how I'm in the part of the world that now has a non-zero risk of being cut off from the rest of the internet it is genuinely disheartening to see getting immediately silenced for daring to simply fucking ask about LAN enabled matchmaking on a #deeprockgalactic discord server I get immediately treated with not just a warning on my account but being muted for an undisclosed amount of time And also being prohibited to even view certain channels for whatever reason
I get the implications of this question but IMO this is in no way to address this. Local censorship authority has already been testing disabling connectivity to the outside world with varying degrees of success last month, as well as carrying out protocol whitelists that filter out everything that's not http/https. If it really ends up being where things are going, all of this supposed to last Steamworks stuff and similar will be just gone.
So for those who are reading this, a reminder: - You do not own your games. - Steam and similar platforms are not forever. - Nor is the server infrastructure of your favorite games.
Support those who make an effort to make their games and systems robust by enabling LAN connectivity and develop dedicated servers.
