WHAT I WOULD IMMEDIATELY LIKE TO KNOW

1. In season 5, when Matt was I think with Nyma and Rolo looking for his dad in that prison, he stopped at one of the cells. Obviously he hadn't found Sam yet, but he clearly found SOMETHING, and it took him a damn while to get back to Nyma and Rolo. So. WHAT THE FUCK DID HE FIND THAT WE HAVEN'T SEEN YET?

2. WHY DOES IT FEEL LIKE I'M THE ONLY ONE SCREAMING ABOUT HOW LANCE DIDN'T MENTION HIS FATHER AT ALL? EVER? Y'all know what I'm talking about, when in s5 he mentioned his siblings, his abuela, his mom...your dad is a pretty important figure in your life, and Lace is clearly a very family-oriented person who loves his family, so HOW DOES HE NOT MENTION LE PAPA?

Voltron you better answer these questions in s7 or I want refund on my life back please

What if Lance’s dad -

What if Lance’s dad was an air force pilot and he died in a plane crash when he was eight. He was always considered a hero but Lance never knew him. He just idolized him throughout the years and watched tapes of him on t.v. Looking through newspapers of his dad’s crash. But he admired his dad so much and wanted to be as close as he could with him. He decides to become a pilot just like him. To become a hero just like him and just to have some sort of piece of him besides the coat he has, that he left behind for him.

So I got this Idea about Lance’s family. well, mainly his mom and dad. and I was thinking. (now just to make sure everyone knows this is just a headcanon.)

you know how everytime someone writing about his family they always make his mom Cuban. well looking at this picture everyone is pretty fair skinned. and what if his Dad was the Cuban one, and I know what you're going to say. 

“Blue-L, how would his father be Cuban with the last name McClain?” 

Let me tell you how! I don’t know how it is in other counties but I know you in America the woman doesn’t have to change her name. The man can if he wishes, or neither. 

So I have this cute thought that Lance’s Dad saw this beautiful Scottish woman and puts his flirt on.

Dad: Hola lovely lady. You must be an angel from heaven. that this unworthy soul just happens to stumble upon. Tell me do you come here often.

Mom: wow sir, when you try you just pull out all the stops don’t ya? but yes  (lowers hand to her chest to reveal a name tag.) I do come here often. I work here. 

Dad: Oh wonderful, would you like to go eat sometime? (puts on a wide grin and winks.)

Mom sighs but tries her best to also hide a smile: In your dreams Lover Boy. (Then walks away to help another person at the diner. )

Like I just see him being so much worse than Lance with the bad Love quotes, but also still the same as he still respects her. If she ever told him straight up no he would have stopped. But she never seemed really bothers by his antics. 

Dad walks into the diner in the early morning for about the fifth time that week.: Buenos Dias, sun Goddess! how is my favorite Waitress?

Mom walks up to him with a smile on her face and shaking her head. She delicately pulls out her notepad: Can you not just enter a place without making a scene? (She was already starting to write down his order already knowing it by heart since it had been the fourth week of him coming almost every day.) And do you even work? you're here almost every morning and never seem to leave?

Dad grins blindly: Ah so you worrying about my well being!  (Places hand over his heart and dramatically falls back.  then sits up leaning on the table.) and to answer your question. yes, I do. I’m a farm hand up the road. I mostly work the later shift. But we can talk about that later. Now Hermosa would you like to go to dinner with me?

Mom looks over with a second then takes a deeps breath. “Yes,(she then gets in his face pointing a finger where it almost touches his nose.)  but on the only condition that it is just friends. nothing more. I have no intention on getting tied down to someone. 

Dad just smiles even brighter: Of course wouldn’t have it any other way.

So they go out as friends for like few weeks maybe a month or two. in that time his Dad while still flirting and being charming. has noticed she is very outgoing and they start to have small competitions. like who can run the fastest? who can swim the longest? who can drink the most shots ( bet you can guess who won that... not him) who says good morning first (though that's mostly just his own mind competition and he beats himself for losing all the time) and so on and so on. After a long while, he finally decides he going to ask her out. 

 Dad sitting in the park with her while having lunch: You know blossom we have been friends for a long while, and you um know how I feel about you. But I would Love to know will you go out with me? (he did his best to put on his most charming grin but ended up looking shy and nervous. )

Mom looking way too smug smirks at him.: Yes but only if when we marry you take on my name.

Dad: That's easy of course if that's all it will take.

mom Looking dumbfounded smiled with a shrug: Great so we are now together.

After about three years of dating, they get married. She never thought about what she told him before they dated and at the altar filled with people. 

Paster: and I know pronounce you Mister and Misses ( starts to say long Cuban name)

Dad: Wait wait wait! you have it all wrong. Its Misses and Mister McClain. 

Everyone looks at him in shock 

Mom: Really? 

Dad: I did make a promise Goddess.

Paster looks around confused for a moment then corrects it. they kiss, and the rest is history. 

Well, I hoped you liked it. it was a lot of fun and a lot longer than I thought.

Lance And His Family

These are kind of my ideas about Lance's childhood and family back on earth. They are for my fanfic on AO3. It's called Lance's (Mis)Adventures In Space: Book.1, and you should totally check it out. :3

Lance has six siblings, and he's the youngest.

The oldest is Veronica, a long hair, oversized hoodie wearing kind of girl. She's very kind, but if you keep provoking her, she can get mean real quick.

The second oldest are the brothers Luis and Marco, Luis being mostly silent, but having a lot to say, and Marco, who's always getting trouble, and Luis having to pull him out.

If you're wondering if Luis and Marco are twins then, yes, yes they are. They're identical twins, but their personalities are so different, it's very easy not to mix them up.

Though they had once traded clothes to see if it would freak their family out. It did and little baby Lance was confused on why they couldn't tell the difference between the two.

Lance used personalities to tell his brothers apart, not clothes.

Emilia is the middle child and ultimate caretaker of Lance when Mamá and Dad can't. Lance needs a sandwich, got that covered! Lance needs to go to the batnroom, already taking him! She's a good bean.

Camila and Carlos are next in the sibling line being the second youngest. They're the next pair of twins but they're fraternal.

Camila hair is a lighter brown, and Carlos has vitiligo.

Lance's Mamá is Cuban and her name is Melanie. She's caring and loves her family, but don't mess with her, she'll kick your ass.

Lance's Dad is American and his name is Asher. He's a traveler who is always up for adventures, and likes taking the kids on road trips. Lance looks like a carbon copy of his Dad.

Emilia has two different color eyes. One a similar blue to Lance's eyes, and the other a soft brown.

Marco has an old car that he messes around with.

Luis owns a hoverbike. There has been many times Lance rode on the back of it to school.

When Lance was a preteen, his family started leaving him in charge of his younger cousins who were all under they age of 10. And that's how Lance became a good older brother dispite being a younger brother.

Nicknames in the family go:

Camila - Cam

Veronica - Ronnie

Emilia - Emmy

Lance - Lancey Lance or Lancey

Lance's Dad calls his Mamá Melly, and his Mamá calls his Dad Ash.

Carlos is a sweet boy who is the pun master.

Camila and Marco swear like saliors sometimes. Veronica does too when she's really mad. Lance has the worst mouth when he's pissed. Very few know this.

Lance loves wearing oversized sweaters, jackets, and shirts. He also loves old hand-me-downs. The clothes are really worn so they end up being soft.

Lance used to have, what Marco had called, a backwards mullet. He had long bangs and it was cut short in the back. Lance wore blue hair clips to pin them out of his face.

Lance has been mistaken for a girl before on multiple occasions when he was younger. He turned it into a game to see how long it takes them to realize he's a guy.

Emilia is a dancer and acrobat. Lance has spent many days learning things from her.

Camila is a gamer. She probably has every game that has ever came out. Or at least that's what Carlos says.

Carlos is a bit of a comedian and a class clown. He and Camila are the ultimate prankster duo, and end up dragging Lance along into it.

Marco likes to call Lance, little dude.

Luis knows how to play the guitar, and taught Lance. Veronica taught Lance how to play the piano.

Lance knows all sorts of things because his siblings love teaching their baby brother things, and Lance had always been open to learn.

Marco and Camila once left Lance behind at the park when Lance was 13.

To this day, they haven't told their Mamá about it...

Lance was born and raised in Cuba. But his Dad takes to the states to see family for vacation.

Lance and his siblings's first language was Spanish, but English was quick to follow.

Lance got his jacket from Marco, which Marco got from his Dad, which his Dad got from his Mom. It's an old jacket.

Everything Stays

Voltron: Legendary Defender fanfiction AO3 Word count: 1592 Ship: None Summary: Lance returns to his family on Earth.   A/N: hello! i got inspired to write this fic when I listened to Everything Stays from Adventure Time, hence the title. I love family reunion fics and felt like I had to write my own so here it is. please enjoy!! 

Dry grass crackled under Lance’s shoes as he walked. Slowly, one step at a time. He was taking everything in. The white picket fence and all the spots where the paint had cracked. The toys in the yard. A soccer ball in the corner over there, a scooter leaned against the wall. The same old swing set. From inside he could hear music. The same cuban music that he had grown up listening to. He could hear children's laughter coming from upstairs, with the occasional screams that sounded like they were about to be murdered, but just meant they were enjoying themselves. He stopped in front of the green door. It seemed like it had been repainted since the last time he had been there. Five years ago he would have pulled out his keys and opened the door himself, bursting in with a loud “Hello, I’m home”. But it wasn’t like that anymore. He couldn’t do that. Not after having been gone for so long.

The war against the Galra was over. Zarkon defeated and the Empire disbanded. On a planet not too far away Allura, Coran and the community of Alteans they had found were building a new society, a new Altea. Voltron had gone all over the universe spreading the message of peace. They had helped people find their families and go back home. Allura had told them that perhaps it was time they returned to Earth, if just for a little while, to see their families. Keith had stayed with the Alteans, not having anyone waiting for him on Earth. The rest of them had taken a pod and headed for Earth. Shiro had dropped them all off at their respective homes before going to see his own family. They all carried the communication device Pidge had made them so that they could stay in touch during their visit. Standing in front of the door of his childhood home Lance couldn’t help but wonder. What had happened here during the time he was gone? What had the Garrison told his family had happened to him? Had he been pronounced missing or maybe even dead? How tall were his nephews and nieces now? Did his mom still make those delicious garlic knots? Had his sister gotten her dream job? Had his brother proposed to his girlfriend? Had they maybe even gotten married? There were so many questions tumbling around in his mind. So many things he had missed. He bit back tears. Slowly he raised his hand. It was now or never. He was shaking. That didn’t matter. He knocked on the door.

“One second!” came a voice from inside. The very recognizable voice of his mother. It had that softness with a slight rasp that was so unique to only her. Lance clenched his fists by his sides. He couldn’t start crying, not yet. Footsteps were heard from inside the house, and Lance was scared. What if they were all angry at him for disappearing. What if they had forgotten him. What if their lives were better without him there. No. He shook his head, getting rid of those thoughts. If there was something he knew, it was that his family loved him. And he loved them. Things might be a bit strained in the beginning, but they would work through it. They were family. The door handle moved and Lance inhaled sharply and held his breath. The door was pushed open and he could see the face of his mother. Her round cheeks, the dark brown eyes so full of love, the thin lips always pulled into a smile, the laugh lines and wrinkles -that had multiplied during the time he was gone- all framed with dark brown hair falling down to her shoulders. She was smiling as she looked outside to see who was standing at the door, until she saw Lance. Her eyes widened with shock and her mouth parted. her eyebrows furrowed as he eyes depicted several more emotions. Pain, disbelief, love, happiness.

“Lance?” she whispered and reached out a little with one hand, almost touching him but not daring to let herself. Lance felt hot tears starting to roll down his cheeks as he looked at his mother and smiled slightly. “Hi mamá” he said hoarsely. “I’m home”. She stared at him. Looking over his face and down his body. Staring at the scars on his forehead and cheeks, at the familiar jacket that seemed to have been ripped and patched up in several places. She let her hand finally touch his arm, gripping it tightly to make sure he was really real. She then looked back at his face, straight into his eyes. “My little boy” she breathed as she let out a choked sob and pulled him into a hug.

The second he was back in his mother’s arms, when he could feel her oh so familiar smell, he started sobbing uncontrollably. They held each other tightly as they both cried into each others shoulders, gripping at each others clothes and taking in that they were both actually there together.

“Mamá, I’m so sorry” Lance cried. “I- I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to- to go away. I’m so sorry” he repeated the words as a mantra as his mother started stroking his back and whispering in his ear. “It’s okay, my love” she told him. “It’s okay. You’re here now”

A few hours later he sat in the living room of his childhood home, surrounded by his family. There had been many tearful reunions. First his mom had called down a few of his nieces and nephews that she had been babysitting. The two youngest didn’t have any memory of him but were still well aware of who he was and had accepted him at once. Then the whole family had come home, starting with his father. He had held him close for several minutes and it had been the first time Lance had seen his father cry. His brothers and sisters had attacked him with hugs while loudly telling him how much they’d missed him. Someone pressed a phone into his hand at one point and told him to call his grandparents, which he gladly did. When all the reunions were over and the tears dried out they had sat down in the living room and demanded Lance tell them what had happened to him. The story was long and probably very confusing, but they all stayed quiet and listened until he finished. “So for the last two weeks we’ve mostly been helping out on New Altea. Allura told us we could come here yesterday. I don’t know how long I can stay, we still have a lot to do out there, but hopefully I’ll be able to visit you a lot now” he said as he finished the story. He looked at his family as he waited for them to voice their reactions, but it stayed quiet. They were all staring at him with huge eyes and some of them even had their mouths hanging open. The first to break the silence was one of the nephews, Leo. He was ten years old now, he had grown so much.

“So you’re like a superhero?” he asked with wide eyes while sounding very excited. Lance chuckled and ruffled his hair. “I guess you could say that” he said. “Although I think that if anyone is a superhero it’s Allura, with her Altean magic and all that” he added. “And she’s really a princess? A real life princess?” Leo’s little sister, Allie, asked.

“Yes, a real life princess” Lance confirmed and booped her nose. “I’m sure she would love to meet you” Allie gasped and her eyes widened. “A princess wants to meet me?” she whispered with a disbelieving tone.

“Yeah, she would probably want to meet all of you” Lance smiled. “And the rest of the team too. Actually, we should take all of you to the castle someday. Pidge’s dad and brother has already been staying with us for a long time so Allura can’t say no to the rest of us taking our own families to visit”

At this his mother’s face softened. “I’m so happy you found Katie’s family” she said. “Colleen has been so distraught. The rest of us had other people to lean on but she lost everyone. It’s good to know they’re back now”

Lance smiled. “Yeah, they all really missed her too”. It got quiet again for a moment as everyone seemed to be deep in thought. Then Lance’s father spoke. “Lance” he said and Lance turned to look at him. “I want you to know I’m so proud of you. I can see how much you’ve changed during the time you were gone. You’ve grown into yourself. And you’ve done so much good. This is the best thing that could’ve come out of your disappearance” Lance felt tears once again being dangerously close to falling and this time he let them come. He stood up and walked over to his father to envelope him in a tight hug. “Thank you, papá” he said and he could feel his father smile. For the first time in five years Lance felt whole. He had the family he had lost back and soon he would see the family he had gained again. And hopefully both the families could be together soon. He would speak to Allura about holding a party in the castle for everyone to celebrate being together again. They needed that. They deserved that.
