3. What do you know about this character that s/he would never admit?

Two major things come to mind here.

1) Concern. She affects a very disconnected and whimsical personality assessing people for what they provide to her, but just like her mother, she has a heart. Even for her mother. Sort of. Montrynnes.

2) Fear. Much like the above. She's not scared about anything that might happen to her, of course, but she's definitely the sort to worry, especially now that people are actually trusting her with their children by the Host are they crazy. (Similarly, her mother terrifies her, but only when she's angry. Which is a safe thing to be when your mother is an epic wizard.)

5. If this character could choose a different identity, who would s/he be?

I'm not sure she even understands the concept of this question. She's only ever been.. well, herself, chasing whatever whims occur to her. It's part of why Galen is puzzling to her - he continually refuses to accept himself, and is caught between being several different people. To Lancere that's simply ridiculous.

7. In what or whom does this character have the greatest faith?

If you asked her, she'd probably answer 'herself'. There's no real one person she puts most of her stock in (Montrynnes are used to disappointment!), but as a collective she believes whole-heartedly in what she's doing with the Academy (and opposing Ferg as an extension of that).

20. Does this character have an obsession? Name it.

Knowledge. It's very rare that Lancere will accept the inability to understand something, and very rare that she'll back down from a problem unless said problem is really really stupid and inconsequential.

33. What calms this character?

Success. Failing that, a stiff drink and as many attractive companions as can fit on her bed.

1. Scattered. She's picky about certain things - there's nothing on the floor that doesn't belong there, her writing desk stays clear unless it's in use - but everything else is simply a collection of whatever random shit she wants to have either in sight or quickly available. Drawers are similarly treated as 'a place to throw things', and it's not uncommon to hear her swearing as she digs around for something that she can't find. Huge bed, and rarely made, even with the power of magic.

3. She's a whirlwind of action even on the slowest days, so rarely with the express intent to do so. Lots of sparring, though, usually with hapless students.

4. Borrow her mother's spellbook. There's a feast ritual in here somewhere..

7. Lancere doesn't really understand the concept of 'wasting' her own time - whatever she's doing is obviously important because she's doing it, even if it's something other people see as irresponsible or fucking around. It's when you make her wait that she gets testy.

Despite her always-in-motion behavior, she's a highly adept scholar and, especially now with the formation of the Academy and the adoption of her mother's library, has one of the more impressive collections of magical tomes in Khorvaire. As a result she's able to figure out and pull up information on pretty much any form of magic on a whim - and if she doesn't know it, Statik does.

"Too much power, too much control. Sure, some are mitigated, or are too busy pursuing money - like Deneith, or Ghallanda. But what if one day Deneith just decided it wanted control? And that's without the ones that are already shady. Tharashk made the mistake of being too overt, but Cannith learned, and Phiarlan and Thuranni can practically go as deep as they want. They might claim to be working in our best interests, but that's all superficial."

"Morgrave University? Dead and buried.

If you meant the academy.. well, the children of Khorvaire deserve a better and more practical magical education than they're getting out there, you know? The University isn't for them, it's for the stuffy suits running it to try and force people to work their way - and that's without mentioning the kickbacks they're getting from it all.

There's a whole world aspiring spellcasters don't even get to consider. That's why I have to keep moving and learn everything I can, and find people who can teach what I can't and teach it well.

Besides, having a number of powerful spellcasters who are loyal to you - not because you compelled them to be, but of their own free will.. well, that's priceless. And a whole lot of fun, not that the other schools see it that way."

Hey Lancere, what if 'Liza actually complimented you for being a good daughter or actually surpassing her as a mother, a wizard, or a person

"What if the Sovereign Host and the Dark Six suddenly came down to Khorvaire and started fighting? What if the King of Breland revealed that Sharn and Argonessen are actually giant sentient beings and then they both activated and started fighting each other? What if the Mourning was actually caused by hungry halflings?

I like a good ridiculous theory as much as anyone, but seriously, we should stick to talking about things that are actually plausible."

Lancere how do you feel about your fellow adventurerererers?

Loaded question. Let's see.

Statik doesn't really count as a fellow adventurer, since he's been my.. war butler? Research assistant? Mad wizard friend? Since forever. Mother was probably just glad to get rid of both of us in one go.

Galen is a nice guy, but a confusing one. Sometimes I feel like he doesn't deserve the hand he was dealt, but then sometimes I think it fits him perfectly for the way he is.

Elry's a weird one. He's up, he's down, he's calm, he's hunting for revenge, he's buddy-buddy then he's trying to start an insult fight. You just never can tell. Personally, I think it's all the time he spends with Galen. Wild magic gets in your head.

Oh, right. Elry's sister? Haven't really talked to her enough to form a real opinion, but she's a tough little thing for a dead girl. I guess 'refusing to give up' runs in the family or something, when you look at what Elry will do just to piss off Ferg.

Not sure about the new girl, either. Kinda like Galen, you know? The nice type, but they're just a little off, just enough to make you think there's some sort of font of untapped crazy or passion or something right beneath the surface. Maybe it's just the religion thing. Who knows?
