Serpentine Falls National Park - Kittys Gorge Trail

An hours drive west of Perth is the Serpentine Falls National Park There is a $14 entry fee and parking is limited, so hot summer days, weekends and School holidays you might find yourself turned away when the car park is full.There are three walking trails, two starting from the Falls end and the the shortest from Jarrahdale. The Kittys Gorge Trail takes the low road along the Gooragong Brook while the Baldwins Bluff Trail takes the high way. Both are are Class 4 walks (moderate difficulty) with steep sections steps and rocky unstable surfaces.  

Plenty of dead fall including some that have fallen across the trail and others into the brook

In high flood I imagine the water is flowing at this level above the stream but in drought like now these pools are only full from rain runoff.

50 metres from the car park are tree ferns growing alongs side the brook

The rock strata here are igneous, much harder than the sedimentary ricks that make up much or WA, and these benches are very slowly smoothed and eroded by the running water.
