1. everyone else avoids him because they’re either intimidated or treat him as an outsider (naturally, a problem of his own making)
2. he’s a bastard but he can’t get away with it when it comes to ileane because she knows how to shut him down -- his alpha chad-like demeanor does not work on her
3. despite the fact that they don’t really have any like. friend-ly interactions per se, any sort of conversation that isn’t him being an asshole is probably the closest thing he’s experienced in regards to friendship
4. he notices her self destructive habits and is like: damn... same hat... +Camaraderie

Since Masaki’s fight revolves around his shamanistic upbringing versus current state, the weapons that drop probably have some sort of ritualistic imagery. Sort of a blend of this set from MHW and this particular set from Swallow’s Compass but with more fire. Gotta love that bone + fire aesthetic.

Masaki chokes and sputters on his tea and spends a good minute having a coughing fit. He can barely meet Ileane’s eyes afterwards. Is. Is he that stupidly obvious? He opens and closes his mouth a few times, making a fantastic impression of a gaping fish, before he clamps his mouth shut altogether out of habit. His countenance becomes very stonelike. The only thing that betrays his feelings is the subtle red color in his cheeks.
“... Huh,” is all he says.

The Count’s request had been simple: damage House Fortemp’s credibility by framing the foreigners for a crime.
The “how” and “what” was left entirely up to Grinnaux, and truth be told ‘twas painfully easy to do -- considering the young lass in particular seemed to enjoy socializing in the Forgotten Knight. And considering they were foreigners... well, who would take their word over that of the Heaven’s Ward if it were claimed they were consorting with heretics? There was already enough scrutiny towards them and House Fortemps for bringing them into the city.
And so here they were, standing before the High Adjudicator and other council members, as well as the gathered crowd of witnesses, in the Tribunal, the arena already locked into place for them to step into. The accused had claimed their right to a trial by combat, surprisingly enough -- a move that, in the Bull’s mind, was completely pointless, given the low probability that anyone would be able to defeat members of the Heaven’s Ward. Most knew it to be a lost cause and wouldn’t bother.
But this group? This group were foreigners after all, and knew not the ways of The Holy See or its inner workings. And that was more than all right with Ser Grinnaux, who never turned down the opportunity for a fight, no matter how one-sided it were. (There was no pity for the accused; this was what they had wanted.)
With a sneer, his large axe was brought forward, and he stepped onto the platform with Paulecrain immediately at his heels. The gate closed behind them to signal that there would be no backing down.

ALPHINAUD
How I feel about this character: -LOUD SCREAMING TO THE DISTANCE AND COPIOUS AMOUNT OF SECOND HAND EMBARRASSMENT. BOY. Idon’tEvEN-
All the people I ship romantically with this character: NONE. Because he is a pure and innocent boy who has a very cute crush on the WoL that isn’t GOING ANYWHERE BECAUSE THE WOL IS A CHARACTER WITH STRONG MORAL FIBER WHO WON’T TAKES ADVANTAGE OF A SIXTEEN YEAR OLD BOY.
My non-romantic OTP for this character: Alphinaud and Estintien’s relationship gives me glee. Alphinaud and Alisaie’s relationship makes me fly to the moon.
My unpopular opinion about this character: Alisaie is the better twin -/shot. JKJK. They’re both precious! I think the only unpopular opinion would have been that WoL x Alphinaud one tbh.
One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon: I really liked 2.55 ok. Enough said.

a headcanon fact: Alphinaud is forced into being a drawing machine by Tataru to sell beautiful pics of everyone to earn money. It really started when Alphinaud drew a portrait of Haurchefant for the WoL and it just.... went down hill from there. Kyrile helped.
ARENVALD
How I feel about this character: Is this a puppy? IT IS A PUPPY!
All the people I ship romantically with this character: Pretty sure everyone he loved was dead.
My non-romantic OTP for this character: Arenvald and Alphinaud is like two blind man trying to lead each other. It’s cute.
My unpopular opinion about this character: I do not ship Arenvald and Fordola. I want their relationship to be a complicated one where it ended up Arenvald can respect Fordola but ultimately what she did in the past would never be forgotten. Likewise Fordola saw the errors of her mistakes but she will never regret what she done in the past because it was her choices and she will not apologize for trying to better herself.
One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon: Seeing more of Arenvald from this point onward instead of us forgetting about him after Stormblood conclude.
