Lane Smith (illustrator of The Stinky Cheese Man, The True Story of the 3 Little Pigs, and Grandpa Green) and Karey Kirkpatrick's James and the Giant Peach

Based on the Selick film of course, which Lane Smith did concept and character design for.

Also a few noticeable changes in the climax there, with this version keeping in the cloud men from the original novel AS WELL AS the Rhino and Spiker and Sponge.

It's rather cheap to find, especially on paper back, so I highly recommend anyone who's a fan of the movie find a copy of their own.

God I've off-and-on wanted to know a specific artist's name for years but always forgot to nail it down, and I'm fucking nailing it down: LANE SMITH. I remember reading The True Story Of The Three Little Pigs as a child and visually recognizing that the same artist did the art for a lot of Oingo Boingo album cover art, and I love this guy's whole shit.

Noble was great on his own.

But add Lane Smith, Joe Don Baker, Kevin McCarthy, James Garner and Daniel Benzali made this film great for daddy watching.

I just watched The Gaslight District, and I realised that Breadhead's design reminds me of Lane Smith's art style. He's one of my favourite children's book illustrators.

You may also recognise Lane Smith as the concept designer for the stop-motion film, James and the Giant Peach, whose director (Henry Selick) has been brought up several times when people talk about the art style influences of The Gaslight District.
