He said he was going to call for Rhys's direction after getting them completely lost. The most frustrating part was Cassian’s confidence, leading her around with his chin so high his neck had to be straining—Gods, it was like he was just fucking with her after what felt like the thirtieth turn.
The abandonment occurred at least an hour-ish ago, the only twitch from her glum expression was a quick huff as she realized Cass had likely gotten himself lost again.
She spent said hour strolling aimlessly, not even knowing how to walk the trail backwards because of all the dizzying pivots. She despised that her only shot at safety depended on Rhysand’s aid and Cassian’s competence.
Her stomach grumbled achingly, the only hydration she had was recycling her own saliva. She couldn’t believe herself for forgetting nutrition and blindly trust Cassian’s direction. Nesta felt a fool.
She didn’t know whether it was sorriness of inaction or the chilling nature of the thin air around her, but Nesta began twisting her sword securely in hand, orchestrating intricate maneuvers with lethal accuracy. The familiar sharp sounds of Ataraxia slicing through innocent air eased her racing pulse.
Nesta let herself fall into the routines, putting her puss into each twist of her waist and switch of her stance. She would rather fall to starvation, exhaustion or thirst than boredom.
