Here I am standing beside a Tinalak made by one of the national living treasures, Lang Dulay. The tinalak is a cloth made out of abaka. It takes 3 months of working before finishing a tinalak. It is special because the design of each cloth is based on the dreamweaver’s dream which they believe is sacred. Also, all materials are natural, from the abaka used to the dye as well.
Fun Fact: Because the Tinalak is sacred, it is not allowed to be cut into parts. Usually, one Tinalak is about 7 meters long and is sold P700.00 per meter. Since the clothe shouldn’t be cut, the minimum length of it that you can buy is 7 meters. Meaning you have to have P4900 to own one of these.
