how do you decide how much is too much plot reveal for a single chapter? asking for a friend

i say as i stare at a big plot bomb in the drafts for langlocked ch9. am i gonna regret this. do i ever regret anything.

anyway i’ve been yelling about my nanolanglocked progress on twitter and i feel like tumblr is woefully deprived of that content (As It Should Be) so here’s some status updates!!!

14k words so far

across 12 different scenes and spanning 4 installments in the afwf verse

flagrante (langlocked prequel), langlocked proper, periculum (book 5), Bad End Alma Arc

nothing huge has happened in Bad End Alma Arc scenes yet kanda’s just comatose but neah’s definitely [redacted]

completely destroying hp canon regarding obliviate charms

Mother is now head of the orphanage cross was at as a kid because the order works differently in langlocked and this is one of the more reasonable parallels for being cross’ ‘patron’ in canon

i needed the cross-takes-allen-to-Mother-to-weather-out-the-trauma-storm scene

i’m writing the scene.

it’s not very happy and cross does not want to be a dad.

allen not being host to the 14th noah is really throwing wrinkles in a lot of stuff!!

“No Host means cross can skip the whole 'who cares about the host! i sure don't! wake the fuck up, neah!' and go straight into 'dad now' mode”

“correction he goes from 'wait neah you can't just leave i don't know how to be a dad (neah: you did this to yourself)' to 'i REALLY don't want to be a dad' and then finally 'i'm not signing your permission slip. you're not allowed to have fun.'”

they’re like. in their 40s at this point. they’ve always been like this. (they haven’t.)

i know i make it sound like langlocked is just all abut cross and neah being gay married and dealing with the world out for their son’s allen’s head but it... well it kind of is i can’t apologize for that.

also because i feel like if i talk about the actual plot it’ll just devolve into spoilers Really Fast

anyways leverrier shows up in chapter 10 i hope you’re all ready for him to get eat shit (he doesn’t. sorry.)

Ahhhh you watched Legend of Korra! Are you up to sharing some of your LoK feels?

I did!  I just finished it today and uh just started it on Thursday what so all my feels are nice and new.  I actually watched this before watching A:TLAB because 1. Awesome lady protags and 2. More interested in older gens forever.  Though I do have a basic knowledge of the original Avatar, and did going in, pretty much all my Korra feels are totally without any Avatar feels behind them.

SO LIN BEIFONG.  LIN MOTHAFUCKIN' BICHIN ARMOUR WEARING BEIFONG.  Let's get married.  I just, I can't even.  She's my perfect character from head to her well steeled toes.  She takes fucks from nobody but she is always the first to step up when shit gets tough. Or even when shit looks like it has the potential to get tough because LIN BEIFONG.  The way she moves just KERRIST let me die, she moves like a water bender but has the substance and solidity behind her movements like her earthbending roots.  More than that though, she favours metalbending above all her other talents which is so interesting to me.  Her instinct is to go to her metal.  Cold, hard and unyielding - except to her. Except if you know the right movements.  Lin Beifong is your metal woman and she will bend to no one.  

Then there's Asami and y'all.  When the hair came out in that first shot?  I was sold.  I was sold like the last turkey on Christmas Eve. Even if you move away from how great her costuming and hair porn is, what you get is the development of society woman who takes literally everything into her own hands.  She wanted Mako well she hit him with her scooter and then asked him out herself.  She wanted the fire ferrets in the finals, she found a way to make it happen.  She refused to be a part of her father's cray equalist movement even though it would have been so easy for her, and instead literally took the glove put it on and used her own two hands to take her own future.  She controls the metal men.  She controls the airships.  She was born into industry and she is a woman made to survive and thrive into the new world.  She's not your damsel in distress and she will live a life of her own invention.

Tahno.  Seriously you guys, I have a type and they're all fundamentally the same type.  I will give you the keys to my kingdom for all the Tahno and the Tahno development in season 2.  ONLY thing I ship in LoK (besides Cheif Beifong/me/everyone) is Tahno and Korra.  Everyone else can sit down.  But I'm going to go out on a pretty solid limb here and assume the fandom woobifies him (because he's snarky and has really good hair and that's how fandom does) which is so inherently wrong to me.  I want him to stay ruthless and I want his delightfully arrogant hair and smirk back.

TENZIN AND FAM. "We have a super-great family and we’re so happy that you’re a part of it." HAHAHA NO.  I was so not prepared for the feels I have over this family.  They are just so earnest and lovely and completely wonderfully outside the rest of it.  Those kids?  Giving no fucks about the danger of chi blockers.  Because shut the fuck up nobody touches their dad's ex-girlfriend.  Also Meelo is what I imagine the best child to be like.  TENZIN!  So srs always.  But he just loves so wholly and completely and always is trying so hard to do what's right and what his father would want.  

Give me Bumi.  Give him now.

BOLIN.  Forever okay.  I ship Bolin with happiness because lord how can you not want it for your most earnest character show?  I fell hard for him as soon as he decided you know what?  Fuck you Mako Imma make our championship ante just me an Pabu because I believe in us.  Like consider me dead okay?  

Mako and Korra are great but everything that can be said about them that's great has already been said.  

I really like this show and am eagerly looking forward to next season (WHERE THERE BE LIN BEIFONG I GO POST HASTE)
