When studying spanish at school we learn about falsos cognatos or words that appear to have the same origin and therefore meaning (cognatos) but actually don't (falsos). It is important because spanish and portuguese have a lot of similar sounding words (of course depending on the dialect some more than others) and also some words that are used the same way in both languages. So we need to be extra carefull with the words that don't. Like how the spanish world for pregnant (embarazada) sounds a lot like the portuguese wolrd for ashamed/messy (embarassado) or how they wolrd for bear (oso) sounds a lot like portuguese world for bone (ossos).

Now all languages have that. For instance my beloathed pretend (in portuguese fingir) that sounds very similar to prendende (in english to intend) a confusion I made a lot.

All that to say that I was looking online for spanish homework so my cousin could use it to study when I found one that called the concept falsos amigos, literally fake friends. And it's soo funny. They really looked at that world and went "your traitor you're so fake lying to me like that >:(" and I really find that funny for some reason.

I was thinking how in hungarian we often use food names as nicknames or petnames,like (i'm gonna use literal translations) bearcheese,which is this (we also call them square cheese,they're the best)

Or raisin,pumpkin seed,sugar berry,sugar pea, or food related nicknames like lol bro cheese(mostly used for little boys,or as mocking)

In french Moth is just Butterfly of Night, or like Night's Butterfly

So each time i see moth it takes me a few seconds to remember what it is in my mother tongue

Norwegian Funfact #1

Instead of saying girlfriend or boyfriend, we’ve got the gender-neutral “kjæreste” which means “my dearest”, and that is probably my favoritue thing about my native language.
