winterpixier: Oooo a Game of Thrones AU with My Hero sounds amazing!!😱😱😱
-- I don’t know where any of that came from, but it just popped out of my head as I was thinking about it. So like, as it stands:
Todoroki is heir to the throne, but he’s kinda meh about it. Yeah, he’s been raised his whole life to eventually take it, but he’s not excited and he doesn’t want it. He’d rather go on adventures, but his dad won’t let him do anything fun. He’s technically the youngest of his siblings, but his dad disowned the boys and his sister can’t take the throne because sexism. He’s known to be aloof with people, which puts everyone on edge.
All Might/Toshi is from a large House that has connections with the throne in the past, meaning that he could possibly contest it if he wanted. However, he doesn’t have any heirs and his House will die out without one, so for whatever reason or another, he decides to raise Izuku from a bastard (his dad was a high born that was just like DUECES and left after getting his mom pregnant, freaking rude) to his heir. Like Toshi recognizes how incredibly smart, honest, and good that Izuku is despite coming from such a low upbringing. So then he has to switch from lowborn to highborn, but he keeps calling people “m’lord” and “m’lady” and bowing at people and Toshi has to correct him and be like, “No, you don’t do that now. They bow to YOU.” And it’s all sorts of weird. But Toshi raising up Izuku like that has consequences since he now has an heir who COULD potentially fight for the throne.
Which leads us to Bakugou, who comes from one of the biggest Houses in the country. They’re super well-known and have a huge army of their own. They’re close with the throne, but it’s one of those “keep your friends close and your enemies closer” sort of deals since they also have ties to the throne. And we all know Bakugou is eyeing more than just inheriting his family’s castle and land. He’s not going to start a WAR or anything, but if the throne ever came in question, well, he’d step up. Kirishima’s family is one of their bannermen that is famous for their blacksmithing and so he knows dead up what Bakugou is like. He acts like he’s way better than Kirishima, but then will only wear and use stuff made by Kirishima. Tha’s it. Izuku also used to be a servant in the Bakugou House to make extra money to help his mom and he spent most of his childhood being bullied by Bakugou for being a bastard. Now that he’s a highborn and technically on the same level as Bakugou, it causes a bunch of tension. Could Izuku be a threat to the throne? Even Todoroki has to consider it. (Izuku just wants friends, but like, if he has to fight...)
Meanwhile, the poor girls are in a hot mess because sexism once again. Momo comes from the wealthiest family in the country, but they really want her to become queen, so they’ve been trying to push an arranged marriage between Todoroki and Momo for a while. It’s awkward since they kind of grew up together in the court and now it’s just like, “Oh hey your mom and dad want us to get married. Weird right?” Poor kids. Momo is not having it. She likes Todoroki, but she would really love to go to Oldtown to study what Maesters do. She’s so smart. Just being a wife sounds so boring.
Uraraka is basically in a position where she has to marry up or her family will become so obscure and in poverty that they might as well be lowborn. Of course her parents want her to be able to marry for love, but even they know what’s at risk. Uraraka really doesn’t want to marry some highborn ponce for money and titles -- she loves to play with swords and dreams about becoming a mystery knight in a tournament and kicking butt -- but it’s all about her family’s honor. Her family sends her to the royal court in hopes that she’ll find a suitor, but in the end she becomes really close friends with Todoroki, who is avoiding a betrothal as well and gets anxious around Momo. Basically Izuku and Bakugou become possible suitors, but both of those come out with separate issues. One Bakugou is the rich ponce she hates, but then he’ll actually spare with her and admires her skill with a sword. On the other hand, Izuku is super easy to talk to and relate with and he’s so kind because of how he grew up as a lowborn and he never looks down on her for coming from a poor family.
Tsuyu comes from a family that’s kind of like the Reeds, as in they’re from a bog land. She’s a lowborn whose family served under Uraraka’s, but as time has passed, they’re more on common ground. She and Uraraka grew up together and are the best of friends. When Uraraka was sent to King’s Landing to the court, Tsuyu went with her as her attendant, although they’re more friends and people always note that Uraraka treats her like an equal. A lot of the highborns look down on her and mock her, but it’s never phased her once even though Uraraka blows up about it. She’s a bit of a greenseer as well, although she makes a point to never tell Uraraka what she sees about her. She does tell people fake prophecies to freak them out if they’re rude. She’s told Bakugou multiple times that he ends up poor and it pisses him off each time.
Iida comes from the oldest family in the country. They’re extremely loyal to the throne. His brother is on the Small Council. He knows all the rules of the court and follows them to a t, often harping on the others to follow them. Bakugou rarely shows up on time and in attire that is never appropriate, either too much or not enough. Izuku forgets things since he’s learning to be a highborn. Uraraka will occasionally slip into more lowborn talk just because. However, they’re all great friends and Iida just worries that they might get kicked out of court.
