Lol what if Oluo keeps accidentally finding Levi and Petra’s vague love notes to each other, and thinks its for him😂😂
Did a twist to the prompt but here you go @winterpixier (I can’t tag you? 😫)
and also doubles as my entry to the weekly prompt challenge in the Rivetra Writers Discord server! (ノ◕ヮ◕)ノ*:・゚✧
Posted this as well to my Rvietra Drabble Collection! [AO3]
The first time Oluo Bossard finds a note, he was pretty sure it wasn't meant for him.
He was in the office pantry to get some snacks when he saw a note - an orange sticky note to be exact, stuck on the pantry's toaster and written on it in perfect cursive were the words seeing you is the best part of my day ♡
He was pretty sure it was for someone else.
The second time he found one was in the office copier room, it was stuck on the screen of the copier's control panel.
You look good in midnight blue :)
He was wearing a dark grey suit but he preened at the compliment, anyway. He even adjusted his cravat before walking out of the copier room and sashaying down to his desk, a folder of documents he forgot to photocopy under his arm.
He still wasn't sure if it was for him but then it happened again. And again. And again. He keeps finding little notes with compliments and encouragements written on them all over the office, and by the sixth time he finds one, he can't help but think that perhaps there really is someone in the office who secretly admires him.
He set it upon himself to uncover the identity of his secret admirer. The only clue he has was the fact that his admirer only writes their notes on orange-colored sticky notes and that their penmanship is very neat and pretty. Plus they make good tea and bake delicious chocolate chip cookies.
By the following week, Oluo is pretty much certain that his secret admirer is none other than Petra Ral - the cutest girl in their department. She was the only one with a stack of orange sticky notes on her desk.
He was smiling to himself when Gunther walks over to his desk and asks him why he has that stupid grin on his face. Oluo beckons the other man closer and whisper's into his ear, "I may have an office admirer."
Oluo's eyes flicker to Petra who was smiling and chatting with their boss, Levi Ackerman.
Gunther scoffs, "You're delusional."
"Oluo's delusional?" Eld, who is always in search of the latest office gossip, says as he rolls his desk chair over to the two men.
"Yeah. He thinks that Petra likes him," Gunther adds as he steals a mint from Oluo's stash of candies.
Eld chuckles, "What do you mean Petra likes you? Rumor has it that she and the boss are dating."
"But the notes -"
"What notes?" came a feminine voice behind them. They all turn and Petra was there, eyeing them suspiciously.
Gunther kicks Oluo's shin.
Oluo is sheepish when he tells her that he's been finding notes from her all over the office and that he's convinced that she likes him.
Petra gasps, "No wonder Levi got none of my notes!"
Eld claps Oluo's shoulder and says, "Told you they were dating."
Is it also weird I find Norman kind of a sociopath? There’s many panels where he just seems downright eerie.😯
I don’t think it’s weird for you to perceive him that way. However, you should remember that Norman is acting that way, rather than being true to his own feelings. Imagine that Norman is like an actor playing a villain on stage. You wouldn’t assume the actor underneath is the same as the character they are playing. Norman is applying that same kind of strategy, but treating real life like it’s a stage play.
Which Norman has every reason to hide how he really feels behind a mask, behind a role he’s assumed for a play because he’s constantly putting himself in these dangerous stituations. He cannot look weak when he is dealing with Giran and his followers, because they will eat him at the slightest show of weakness.
What Norman wants everyone around him to believe is that he’s an unfeeling sociopath. That he’s someone who only runs on logic. That his feelings will never get in the way and never sway him from what he has to do. He’s essentially lying, to everyone, and also to himself.
Norman acts like he has the entire situation in the palm of his hands. Like it’s one big game to him. Winning is as easy as winning chess. It’s that confidence in himself that convinces others to rely on him. Norman acts this way because it’s what he believes he has to be for other people. He has to be the villain that can bring the lambda kids their revenge. He has to be the person capable of destroying the world for the sake of the cattle children. But most of all he’s also convincing himself that he is capable of these feats.
Even Ray and Emma confirm this. That Norman isn’t actually the mastermind he’s pretending to be. That he’s putting on a show to fool them.
It’s hard to be a person, because people second guess themselves. They mess up. They hesitate. They let their feelings get in the way. People are flawed, and will carry those flaws with them into their decisions. Which is why Norman is trying to step out of his shoes as a person and step into a role on stage. As a character in a play only needs to play their part. They have much less dimmensionality, and therefore much less room for error than a human does.
Norman is not so much unfeeling as he is denying his own feelings. He would like very very much not only for his enemies, but also his allies to forget about his feelings. He wants to have their complete confidence that he will do what is necessary. He believes if he does that he can step out of his own shoes and put his own doubts aside.
So yes Norman is play-acting as a villain, but he’s doing so for other people and not for himself. As Emma points out the real Norman is some scared child, and he’s desperately trying to hide that fact.
The more he becomes the mask, the more he can separate himself from his own feelings. If he feels nothing than he’s not scared, not scared at all. That’s the lie he’s telling himself at least. However, the lie comes undone in the end as most lies do because Emma and Ray are there to see past Norman’s lies and remember his real self.
I love your IzuOcha stories 🤧 the fluff brings joy to my heart.
Thanks, that really means a lot rn in particular. I kinda got an unsolicited critique on my writing style last night that kinda ruined my motivation to work on much. I know the person probably didn’t intend it that way, but it really came across as “your choice in writing style is bad.” So it made me feel really weird for a hot minute.
I feel better now for sure, but thank you again. This really means a lot! I’m hoping to have One Plus One Does Not Equal a Date (Probably?) done soon, please look forward to it!
winterpixier: Oooo a Game of Thrones AU with My Hero sounds amazing!!😱😱😱
-- I don’t know where any of that came from, but it just popped out of my head as I was thinking about it. So like, as it stands:
Todoroki is heir to the throne, but he’s kinda meh about it. Yeah, he’s been raised his whole life to eventually take it, but he’s not excited and he doesn’t want it. He’d rather go on adventures, but his dad won’t let him do anything fun. He’s technically the youngest of his siblings, but his dad disowned the boys and his sister can’t take the throne because sexism. He’s known to be aloof with people, which puts everyone on edge.
All Might/Toshi is from a large House that has connections with the throne in the past, meaning that he could possibly contest it if he wanted. However, he doesn’t have any heirs and his House will die out without one, so for whatever reason or another, he decides to raise Izuku from a bastard (his dad was a high born that was just like DUECES and left after getting his mom pregnant, freaking rude) to his heir. Like Toshi recognizes how incredibly smart, honest, and good that Izuku is despite coming from such a low upbringing. So then he has to switch from lowborn to highborn, but he keeps calling people “m’lord” and “m’lady” and bowing at people and Toshi has to correct him and be like, “No, you don’t do that now. They bow to YOU.” And it’s all sorts of weird. But Toshi raising up Izuku like that has consequences since he now has an heir who COULD potentially fight for the throne.
Which leads us to Bakugou, who comes from one of the biggest Houses in the country. They’re super well-known and have a huge army of their own. They’re close with the throne, but it’s one of those “keep your friends close and your enemies closer” sort of deals since they also have ties to the throne. And we all know Bakugou is eyeing more than just inheriting his family’s castle and land. He’s not going to start a WAR or anything, but if the throne ever came in question, well, he’d step up. Kirishima’s family is one of their bannermen that is famous for their blacksmithing and so he knows dead up what Bakugou is like. He acts like he’s way better than Kirishima, but then will only wear and use stuff made by Kirishima. Tha’s it. Izuku also used to be a servant in the Bakugou House to make extra money to help his mom and he spent most of his childhood being bullied by Bakugou for being a bastard. Now that he’s a highborn and technically on the same level as Bakugou, it causes a bunch of tension. Could Izuku be a threat to the throne? Even Todoroki has to consider it. (Izuku just wants friends, but like, if he has to fight...)
Meanwhile, the poor girls are in a hot mess because sexism once again. Momo comes from the wealthiest family in the country, but they really want her to become queen, so they’ve been trying to push an arranged marriage between Todoroki and Momo for a while. It’s awkward since they kind of grew up together in the court and now it’s just like, “Oh hey your mom and dad want us to get married. Weird right?” Poor kids. Momo is not having it. She likes Todoroki, but she would really love to go to Oldtown to study what Maesters do. She’s so smart. Just being a wife sounds so boring.
Uraraka is basically in a position where she has to marry up or her family will become so obscure and in poverty that they might as well be lowborn. Of course her parents want her to be able to marry for love, but even they know what’s at risk. Uraraka really doesn’t want to marry some highborn ponce for money and titles -- she loves to play with swords and dreams about becoming a mystery knight in a tournament and kicking butt -- but it’s all about her family’s honor. Her family sends her to the royal court in hopes that she’ll find a suitor, but in the end she becomes really close friends with Todoroki, who is avoiding a betrothal as well and gets anxious around Momo. Basically Izuku and Bakugou become possible suitors, but both of those come out with separate issues. One Bakugou is the rich ponce she hates, but then he’ll actually spare with her and admires her skill with a sword. On the other hand, Izuku is super easy to talk to and relate with and he’s so kind because of how he grew up as a lowborn and he never looks down on her for coming from a poor family.
Tsuyu comes from a family that’s kind of like the Reeds, as in they’re from a bog land. She’s a lowborn whose family served under Uraraka’s, but as time has passed, they’re more on common ground. She and Uraraka grew up together and are the best of friends. When Uraraka was sent to King’s Landing to the court, Tsuyu went with her as her attendant, although they’re more friends and people always note that Uraraka treats her like an equal. A lot of the highborns look down on her and mock her, but it’s never phased her once even though Uraraka blows up about it. She’s a bit of a greenseer as well, although she makes a point to never tell Uraraka what she sees about her. She does tell people fake prophecies to freak them out if they’re rude. She’s told Bakugou multiple times that he ends up poor and it pisses him off each time.
Iida comes from the oldest family in the country. They’re extremely loyal to the throne. His brother is on the Small Council. He knows all the rules of the court and follows them to a t, often harping on the others to follow them. Bakugou rarely shows up on time and in attire that is never appropriate, either too much or not enough. Izuku forgets things since he’s learning to be a highborn. Uraraka will occasionally slip into more lowborn talk just because. However, they’re all great friends and Iida just worries that they might get kicked out of court.
