I really hate the Hinanami in DR3. Like, why did they make Nanami real? Why did they make Hinata's character pretty much completely revolve around her? Like, I like SDR2 Nanami, but DR3 Nanami makes no sense. What's your opinion?
It’s bad. It’s really bad. I never particularly cared for her that much, I’ll be honest, but I thought she was cute and understood her relevance to the story in sdr2.
From the moment they announced that she would be in dr3 I was really upset/disappointed. Like, seriously, I had a huge rant about it in a discord call. There was no reason to bring her back, and of course, like most people, I instantly guessed that her point in existing would be to...well, you know, get killed off.
The relationship between the two, itself, always felt a tad bit like...well, it was there? Like it was the obvious option in the game. And that’s fine. You could still ignore it as mostly friendship (except island mode, but that hardly counts) if you wanted to, or ship it if you wanted to. That’s a good way to handle things.
Come the anime and it’s jacked up to eleven and incredibly shoehorned in. Even if I was someone that shipped it, I think I would be disappointed, because the ship wasn’t treated with respect, it was just carelessly thrown in because, from the looks of it, y’know, main protagonist and main girl always have to get together in such a generic way, right?
I dunno. This is probably a lot of bs. I hope there are some shippers that could enjoy what the show did, but I see it as a misstep and wish that if they were going about this route they could’ve at least done it better.
