In our ridiculous character universe, there are MIMES and JESTERS. They’re both a type of MAGICAL MUTATION that sometimes occurs in creatures at random…mostly ones on Earth or worlds attached to it through some manner, most likely due to the constant amount of strange magical interference that happens there. Mimes are multi-wordly, (usually) silent, expressive beings with powers including a type of teleportation, telekinesis, and the ability to use objects from one world in another (like being able to sit on air due to sitting on a chair in one world). They take interest in communication through body language and it is DEEPLY FROWNED UPON to use verbal communication, and many are naturally mute. Jesters, meanwhile, can be more or less powerful than mimes. Jesters' magical abilities differ greatly from one individual to the next, and shapeshifting of some variety and the ability to alter the colours of things around of whatever colourscheme each jester naturally has are the only abilities that are there in most every one. That aside, they tend to be boisterous and musical, often taunting people with riddles and rhymes. The two sorts each have a sort of school/residential area specifically for mimes or jesters. Mimes, constantly existing between at least two worlds once reaching around the age of 5, have a small world specifically run by them. This gives room to remain in their original world--if plausible--while still keeping their secondary selves safe, getting to meet others like themselves, and allowing them to learn how properly use their powers, since misuse could be (and not too uncommonly is) fatal. Jesters, on the other hand, only have one part of themselves...like any normal person. But as such, and since most cannot teleport from place, they can only really do their best to keep track of the ones on Earth... so have a much smaller community. But their school is a boarding school and is in a palace, and they have other various housing around it. Their school is also very focused on the arts, especially performing arts. Neither sort are known to particularly get along. With mimes being quiet and usually taking their ..place as a mime.. more seriously and jesters being loud and rambunctious, it doesn't often work out so well. They CAN work together well, especially both being performers of sorts, but that's not usually the case. I could go on more about them (particularly mimes), but it would take too long and I am tooooo laaazy... and we're not even going to get into what ELCYCINU is.
