How to treat your laptop with love & shit on capitalism:
I don’t know who needs to hear about this, probably few because I’m usually the last one picking up a nifty idea: If you have a laptop that seems to start working a lot less well due to shutting the fuck down when you lift it and you’re also a poor motherfucker (like me) who can’t afford proper cooling down stuff for your electronics, this is what you do: 1. Open the lid to the system stuff. Unscrew the cover of the fan and use your vaccum cleaner to suck the dust out of it. Normal, small little screwdrivers work perfectly for this. 2. Put the shit back together and go get three plastic freeze packs that should come with your freezer - if not, they’re cheap to buy. 3. Wrap the packs in a plastic bag - this is important - and then wrap either a pillowcase or a kitchen towel around the package. The three packs should lay next to each other in the bag! 4. Now you place your freshly vacuumed laptop onto this little cooling tray and plug in the charger to fully load the battery. 5. If necessary, use the charging/cooling time to run a disc defragmentation or virus scan, while letting the system remain cool and spare the fan. 6. When your laptop is fully charged and works a lot more quiet, you remove it from the cooling tray, make sure nothing’s wet and put the freeze packs back in the freezer. I bought my laptop from my brother in 2015. It’s not an overly expensive one and was used when I bought it for around 200 bucks (not sure what that would be with todays inflation and shit, but you get the idea). I have used this motherfucker daily for seven years now and it still works like a charm - if I make sure to do this little cooling down procedure regularly. Remember, this shit was USED for a couple of years BEFORE I bought it an the “life expectancy” for a laptop is about 3-5 years. There’s one HELL of a difference between 5 and 7 years, let alone 3 and 7. AND IT STILL WORKS PERFECTLY! With the help of a vaccuum cleaner, 3 freezer backs, a plastic bag, a pillow case and a small screwdriver, this baby hasn’t given me ANY signs of giving in. Capitalism wants to make us buy new stuff and by refusing to give in to this shitty idea that electronics “are supposed to break within a couple of years”, you will save money AND give capitalism the finger while also giving a little highfive to the environment.
