Lapwingstar doesn’t show off his Blessing very much nowadays, on account of his age and all the things he has to do as leader. In his youth, though, he was the fastest cat around. No one could catch up to him when he went for a run.

I’m surprised Sandgorse isn’t crossed out on Lapwingstar’s card, considering his general piss pour behavior throughout the super edition. Was there a better resolution to their relationship than in canon or is it the same?

no, the relationship was about the same. lapwing just... really idolized his dad post-cave in, sort of putting him on this untouchable pedestal. and he still loved his dad a whole lot when sandgorse was alive, they just didn't see eye-to-eye on... anything, really.

just like with palebird, though, lapwingstar's grown now and is able to recognize that sandgorse pushing him to be a tunneler wasn't out of hate, and more so out of wanting the best for him and not really understanding what that means from lapwing's point of view. unlike with palebird, lapwingstar still genuinely sees his dad as family. if sandgorse hadn't died so early in his life, then his feelings towards him would be a lot more bitter.
