Lore drop:

The bad things larch did were (for the most part) a result of Night(Dark’s grandma) messing with his head when he was a kit, eventually leading to insanity.

The only person who refused to give up on him was Achorn, who refused to accept that her brother wasn’t in there somewhere.

So when she gives birth, she still(albeit monitored) lets him spend time with his niece.

However, when she finds out that Larch was the one who killed Fern (their younger brother who her daughter is named after) she told him to stay away from her kit forever.

Yes Larch and Night are Day and President Earth from LAES…
