Elie’s favorite garden remained her secret garden on the Los Angeles estate. She would sneak the children in and tell them fairy stories... sometimes even mixing in little things from her favorite stories. For years, the boys were convinced oranges were actually dirigible plums and that the only reason the weren’t floating was because they weren’t ready to be eaten yet. It never failed, the “fairies” would come and night and leave one under each of their pillows.
