trepanation
- "Trepanation" from the iam.bmezine.com comp CD
A brief search for "Shannon Larratt" on here produced an overwhelming outpouring of gratitude and emotion. So many people sharing the same feelings, so many "I never would have thought that the death of someone I didn’t personally know would affect me like this" and "without you I would not be the person I am today".
I feel thankful to have been able to meet Shannon on a few occasions, attend some bmefests, and be involved in some IAM/BME related projects. Most of all it was just nice to be able to read about how his amazing mind worked over the years, through his constant sharing of his thoughts and things he found interesting and passed on to us...he was such a dynamic, talented, mad genius - raw, honest, controversial.
The link above is to the song I did for the IAM.BMEZINE COMP CD which Shannon put out what seems like forever ago, sometime around 2001-2002, I believe. I had first read about (modern) trepanation on BME and been instantly equally fascinated and horrified with the concept (much like i was with so many other things Shannon wrote about lol) and then stumbled upon a talk radio segment about it randomly a few nights later (which is the sample behind the track).
There is info about contributing to the trust for Shannon's daughter in his goodbye letter on his blog here. (warning, bring tissues.)
