so yeah. hi. my teacher taught us today about dictionary and stuff. we came across the word beau. mostly misunderstood to be pronounced as byu. but actually it's pronounced as bow. as in a ribbon. beau means boyfriend and only boyfriend. guess what, the the african-american slang for beau(bow) is boo. and we all know louis' nickname right? which is btw what harry calls lou. BOO. idk maybe i'm over reading things. i think you know i just wanted to tell someone my thoughts. reply? explain? -sofia

Hi! Well, yeah, it’s a way of looking into things. We all know “Boo” it’s an affectionate nickname, personally I call some people Boo a lot. In Louis’ case it’s the nickname his mom, Jo, gave him, Boo Bear :)

I think the boys and Harry specially call him that to mess around with him. I mean, we’ve all seen his reaction when they sang happy birthday to him and instead of “dear Louis”, Harry had everyone sing “dear Boo Bear” and it was just freaking adorable!

But personally, I think Harry doesn’t call him Boo just to mess around, even though it’s definitely one of the reasons he does. Obviously you kind of need to have a certain confidence with someone and feel affection towards that person to call someone by such a nickname, isn’t it? I mean, that’s how it works for me :)

Whether you’re a larry shipper or not one thing’s for certain: those two - actually, those five - love each other to pieces, so it’s really very natural to me that they have such silly nicknames to call each other (I remember a time when Louis used to call Harry sweetcheeks or even just curly) :) xxx
