A well-deserved win for Matt Henry. I was afraid he and Killian would split the vote the way Killian and Briones did last year, and the award would go to a third person, but wahey! Go Matt. And I can relax a bit now, too.
And of course he dedicated the win to Killian. Who would have dedicated a win to Matt, no doubt.
Posing on the carpet for the same magazine, a year and a world apart.
In hindsight, I should have called in late today. Oliviers post-mortem:
• WELL PLAYED, POTATO, god, I am still so proud • Rolan Bell and his girlfriend sjakjf;;kl that is just TOO MUCH GORGEOUSNESS HAPPENING RIGHT THERE • Genuine smile alert oh god help; also visible in the background here • Seriously, can I have Rolan's girlfriend's hat/fascinator thing RIGHT NOW PLEASE I honestly think she looked best out of everyone I saw last night in red carpet photos o.o • Still really okay with Saigon going home with zero, zilch, nada. I like to think of it also as karma for certain pieces of acting beefcake getting bitchy about jukebox musicals in interviews, perhaps. • I appreciated Beverley’s attempt to restore some dignity to proceedings at the end of Kevin Spacey’s wanky madness performance art, I really did. Her voice can make for a lot, even some nutter’s doing his best to annihilate my favourite song of all time. That was almost right up there with the Bway revival cast’s utter destruction of One Day More at the Tonys. • Before sleep happened, a thousand words of post-Oliviers, erm, fic happened oh god tin tin tin what have I done and more will probably happen before I’m able to concentrate on, I don’t know, work or something. • My home-based highlight of the night was my mother’s passing remarks on Potato: oh, he cleans up well, doesn’t he? Yes. Yes, he does.

SO much more polished than the Palladium performance, though…they’ve definitely come together so nicely as a company.
Yes, yes, yes. It was clear on all their faces how chuffed they were to be there, and you’re right, Killian looked extremely happy, and Beverley was beautiful. I wanted them to stay on that stage much longer--if they’d been able to do the full Steal Your Rock and Roll, at least Rolan, Jason, and Tyrone would have had more time to shine as well. It really is a company that loves each other a lot. I hope they’re partying somewhere (I know Beverley is slaying in red at one afterparty).

Disappointed because i was the only one at the red carpet shouting Killian’s name and good lucks, but he said thank you and made an ok sign. I’m complete.
Oh, that is fantastic you were able to do that! It has to be wonderful to hear people cheering you on. Lovely lovely lovely.
Right, okay, that Memphis performance was so rushed as to be almost pointless—even more than almost the same exact thing at the Palladium. And perhaps it was just me, but Sunny Afternoon’s and Beautiful’s seemed to run longer, errrgh. I have a headache. I’m sure that’s what’s influencing me. I’m sure of it.
I’m bizarrely exhausted, but have just enough energy to a) still be prepared to watch the ITV highlights show in a while for the performances at least, and b) rejoice in my cold, blackened heart that Saigon didn’t win anything. Because I am a terrible person and am blinded by c) SUITS SUITS SUITS holy holy well played, Potato, d) Rolan Bell’s girlfriend’s hat (let’s be real; her everything), and e) DID I MENTION POTATO’S SUIT.
As I was afraid of, John Dagleish rode the tide of goodwill for Sunny Afternoon and has won Best Actor in Musical at the Oliviers. Nevertheless. Oh Puss, oh Potato; look at you, look what you earned, look at all you’ve accomplished and been and are and can and will be.
