How to make your Lash Extensions last!
Lash Extensions. You pay hundreds to get them put on, then before you know it--your money is falling out one lash at a time. Here are several tips and tricks to keep those lovely lashes full and tidy for as long as you can get out of them.
Starting with Lash Services and the first 24 hours afterwards:
1. Go to lash services with clean lashes. 2. During application, let technician know if you feel any discomfort or you feel your eyes starting to water. 3. Do NOT get lashes wet or put any products on for the first 24hours. This one is crucial! Some even go 48. 4. Sleep with head propped up the first night, and take an allergy pill if able to. (Helps with any watering you may have). Makeup, Products, and Cleaning:
1. No oil-based products on lashes! Use oil-free cleansers, oil-free eye products, and eye makeup formulated especially for extensions. 2. Keep lashes clean--remove makeup each and every night. 3. Clean eye area with a Q-tip or makeup wipe by swiping sideways NOT up and down. Clean actual lashes by squirting makeup remover on a disposable mascara wand and brushing through lashes.
Touching and Grooming:
1. Try to leave your lashes alone--stay away from unnecessary poking, prodding, pulling, and rubbing.** Both your eyes and your skin will appreciate this, not just your lashes. 2. Never rub/swipe up or down on lashes (besides brushing with mascara wands). 3. Be gentle when you do touch your lashes. 4. Sleep on your back!** Again, better for both eyes and skin, as well. 5.To scratch that itch--lightly wiggle sideways above or below lashes. 6. Keep lashes brushed with a disposable mascara wand, especially after showers and getting wet. 7. For unruly lashes use 2 mascara wands and brush gently at the same tie--one above and one below lashes. 8. If a lash is bothering you, go in and see your technician. Don't stab yourself with tweezers or rub all of your natural lashes out.
**Being gentle on your eyes and sleeping on your back will help prolong the appearance of aging and puffiness! Lashes are a great tool to train yourself to not rub your eyes.
Fills and Long-term Wear:
1. Keep up with fills! 2. When lashes are looking a little spacy, use mascara formulated for extensions to minimize the appearance of gaps. 3. Use a lash-growth serum to keep lashes strong and healthy, especially for those who love heavier (thicker), longer lashes. This will also help extend time needed between breaks. 4. Give your natural lashes breaks from time to time. 5. Use a sealant to keep lashes on longer.
This may seem like a long list, but it's mostly about keeping your lashes dry 24hrs after application, being gentle on your eyes, and being smart about what products you let touch your extensions. Stretch out the quality and value of your money, and love your lashes!
