Creating a Gaming Lesson Plan
So we have addressed the different types of learners and different types of intelligence, and I have given you different templates of minor lesson plans I came up with. This is your chance to take control of your gaming and have a lesson plan for yourself. You don’t need to write it down, but it can help you maintain being objective and level-headed when practicing and approaching goals.
Standard format of a lesson plan is:
Task/Objective: (This can be multiple but aim to have a main task so you have something attainable)
Duration: (estimated time to complete the task)
Materials Needed: (For gaming purposes it would be your computer set up and possibly communications with friends)
Directions: This is your follow through. Should include every step, even if it seems stupid know the process to get to where you want.
Evaluation/Assessment: This is the way to tell you have learned. This needs to be something concrete that verifies you know the information, can regurgitate it on the spot, and teach the skill to others. You can make a booklet with the information, give a presentation to friends, make a YouTube video where you talk about it.
So here is a sample of something that you saw a pro player do and want to then learn the task yourself; I am defaulting to Ziggs in the bot lane as the task.
Task/Objective: Have 3 successful games playing Ziggs in the bot lane instead of an AD Carry.
Duration: Minimum time learning to last hit, understand skills and positioning should be 10-20 minutes
Materials Needed: Analysis of successful games where Ziggs was played in the bot lane, computer with league of legends installed on it.
Directions:
1. Select ziggs in champ select
2. Have appropriate runes/masteries
3. Have a support that can help you sustain in lane (healing type)
4. Work on efficient last hitting (not missing more than 1 in every other wave)
5. Work on effective harassing of lane opponents (try to force them out of lane without taking damage)
6. Analyze build to see for improvements
7. Analyze team comps that would work best for you to succeed
Evaluation/Assessment: Go over damage dealt to enemy champions to see if your damage was comparable to the enemy adc, analyze ways that you can improve though auto attacks, skills, and positioning in team fights. Discuss with friends that you play with regularly in ways that you can improve while watching your video of play through.
This is a simple short lesson plan for gaming. You can apply these fundamentals to any task that you want to learn in a game. Remember that like anything that it will take practice which may not always be fun. Focus on what you want to accomplish in small chunks so you can then combine the skills later.
