Kissed by a sunbeam
Wind dies, wind blows. Last
leaf falls, first leaf grows. Nothing
more to do or know.

Souviens-toi que je t’attends
Guillaume Apollinaire - L’Adieu
A last leaf
Falls
In the last ochre light
Longing for a close embrace.
Autumn is dead,
But I will wait for you in
Winter’s dreams
Under the cold moon...

An Extended Author’s Note (Chapter 19) to “Forgive Us Our Trespasses”.
I wanted to express some of these thoughts and feelings when I completed the story, but I’m not sure I was ready to write them, I wasn’t ready to let go of it. I have taken the time to try to express what it has all meant to me, what you have all meant to me.
As a final expression of my gratitude, I have recorded a cover of the final listening suggestion that I have included at the end of my note to you all.
repost for anon :)
If you should be the last autumn leaf hanging from the tree
I'll still be here waiting on the breeze to bring you down to me
And if it takes forever,
Forever it'll be
And if it takes forever,
Forever it'll be
And if you should be the last seed in spring to venture out a leaf
I'll still be here waiting on the rain to warm your heart for me
And if it takes forever,
Forever it'll be
And if it takes forever,
Forever it'll be
