Notes: I wrote this for Sierra but decided I might as well post it anyway! (You can take it as a bromance or romance, whatever you like :P)

“Get back to work.”

That voice echoes in his mind. It’s deep, menacing. Threatening him with his weapons, towering above him with so much power. But it’s his voice he can’t get over, the voice that he can never forget. Because it’s not him.

Bart looks at Jaime, resting now on the couch after battling. He’s a lot smaller in build compared to the one who will, might, oppress Bart in the future. And he watches him sleep, exhausted from battle. It can’t be the same guy.

Jaime stirs and shifts over, resting his head on Bart’s leg. Bart could’ve left him, could’ve let him die. But he realizes he wouldn’t be able to live with that. He reaches his hand out slowly, hesitating before resting it on his head.

“Duerme bien, amigo.”

They say before you start a war, you better know what you're fighting for. Well baby, you are all that I adore, if love is what you need, a soldier I will be.
