How well does your language work with the Latin script?
AMERICAN ALPHABET
Inventors of the Latin script and inventors of maths working together to create the ultimate diabolical plot: uppercase and lowercase letters that look the same when written on a classroom board but mean entirely different things in lots of different maths subdisciplines
xkcd #2794: alphabet notes
The Latin script needs a letter for the schwa. It seems like most(?) (a lot, at least) languages written with the Latin script have a schwa.
that thing you said about non-IE language doesn't make sense tbh, like, it's not that the latin script is inherently more efficient for IE language and less efficient for non-IE languages. i mean there are several IE languages whose script is latin-derived
I don’t remember exactly what I said, but what I meant to say is that I, as a non-expert, can imagine that the Latin script, designed for Latin, an Indo-European language, is much easier for other Indo-European languages to start to use, because their sounds are more similar and thus they would not have to change that much to which letter represents which sounds. But of course I know there are several non-IE languages that use the Latin script, I just thought it would be more difficult for them to adapt it to their language, because the pronunciation of the letters is originally IE, if you get what I mean? Anyway, if I’m wrong, could you maybe link me to some articles? I’d love to learn more about it!
