ββ How he wished that his existence - more aptly, his nature - didn't so often mandate this. running from one crime to another, one petty theft to an entirely different canvas, forever being chased by those who would forget him in a matter of days - freeing though the sprint was, augh, his legs were sore.
this particular day had started off fine. the canvas - this world - was not especially interesting to him in any way, shape, or form; the people held no appreciation for art, the system at play in terms of government was novice at best, and honestly? the few sparse conversations he had were practically the rotted cherry on top: it may as well have all been a neon sign flashing at him, reading 'JUST GO AWAY ALREADY' in divine scarlet lettering.
all of this to say, sisyphus did not leave quietly. the joy of traveling canvases was a lack of greater consequence, after all. with this in mind, it should have come as no surprise that he caused a ruckus in one town or another before being pursued.
maybe it was rude of him to do this. no knight nor servant nor holy mage would ever catch him. he wasn't even that fast, really. it was only ever because of the ink flowing out from the soles of his feet - skating atop underbrush and dirt - that he was able to manage some distance.
and then, boom. habit took over. hands extended, a swath of ink bled out from his palms and spilled into the air as though it was water amid a tragic burst in some long-abandoned pipeline. in he went, out he went.
normally, he landed on his feet.
this time, it was his head that met the water first.
specifically, water, then sand. coarse and unlovable sand.
hauling himself up onto shore should have been a graceful process. maybe he could look like some kind of prince, eager and desperate for some kind of aid. instead... well, instead he coughed up roughly two cups of what might have been sea water that had been impulsively inhaled amid his shock, and tried to take stock of himself.
head, good. legs, good. body, good. all was in tact. all was moveable. sore, sure, and his lungs were now stinging twice as bad due to the rough hell of sprinting followed by swimming, but he was alright. alive. really, that was all he could ask for.
he stood. brushed the dirt from his jacket and pants, and pulled a pair of soaked white gloves from his messenger bag. left one on first, then right. with his jacket sleeves, the black inkiness of his bastardized curse was barely visible. that was as good as it was going to get for a little while.
now the real challenge started: finding a path, seeing what this particular canvas had to offer... and, if necessary, getting the hell out of dodge before more chaos erupted.
sisyphus stretched his arms above his head, adjusted the way his bag sat on his hip, and started walking. soaked though he was, he had dropped into worse positions on different canvases. surely things were looking up for him already.
sooner or later, after all, he'd have to run into someone. something. a palace, maybe, or a wanderer. in the best case scenario, the surrounding area was deceptive in its appearance: maybe there was an uber he could call, somewhere.
the more he walked, however, the less likely that seemed.
β!!! curious~
My muse(s): hakkai ~ !
Do I know your muse(s): Β yes | no | a little | tell me about your museΒ (naturally i know what's written in your bio, but your lore is interesting and i am always down to hear more!)
Setting: our verse | my verse | your verse | modern | alternate universe | otherΒ (maybe something else in the future, but for now i'd like to establish what we've just started to talk about!)
Pre-established relationships? yes | no | depends on the relationshipΒ (nothing personal i just generally find it hard to pre-establish with hakkai hahaha)
Possible relationships: friends | classmate | co-worker | roommate | family, real or adopted | dating or blind date | married | friends with benefits | unrequited love | lending a hand | teacher - student | rivals | allies | partner-in-crime | enemies | protecter - guarded | business partners | spy - infiltrated | manipulator - manipulated | star-crossed | first meeting | otherΒ (i usually prefer to get a feel for how muse dynamics are heading through interactions before i settle too hard on possibilities so these are very much subject to change pending further interaction/discussion!)
Iβm in the mood for: fluff | angst | horror | romance | humor | crime | hurt / comfort | action | supernatural | slice of life | crack | dark threads | light threads | any genre | multi-para | shorter para | one-line | any length | plotted threads | unplotted threads | other
Feel free to: message me ooc (well, we're already talking hahaha) | message me ic | tell me your ideas | write a starter | answer one of my opens | send a meme | reblog this with your preferences - letβs find common interests!
aaah, hi, hi!! to tell you the truth i'm actually a very plot-based writer in general, so i have a lot of somewhat contradictory things checked off because things could really go in any direction, especially with the first meeting we've discussed and the specific verse of hakkai's being used. i'm not opposed to things going in a different direction later down the line at all.
