may i ask #1 and #10 for the OC asks!!!!! OC of your choice!!!!
What was the first element of your OC that you remember considering (name, appearance, backstory, etc.)?
Not long after Veilguard was announced, I was already wanting to create a Rook for the game. I only knew a handful of things when i set out: Her name was going to be Isotta (because my last OC was named Tristan and her horse had been called Isotta), she was going to be a blonde of some kind, she was going to be an Antivan Crow, and going to be a mage.
Wellllll, while everything else turned out right, it didn't take too long for Isotta to turn around, say 'no' about being a mage, and proceeded to slam that door in my face. Rather than chucking spells at her problems, she chose knives instead, and honestly good for her, because I can't exactly see her being a mage now lol
The which blonde inquiry became resolved out of spite thanks to a tour on my birthday trip lmao
10. If they have an LI, how much of their character is tailored to be compatible to that person?
Some but also at the same time, not a lot. When I first started writing Isotta's story/recruitment mission, I didn't know SHIT about him and used what vibes and breadcrumbs were available. Often I asked myself "hmmmm I think he'd do this so what would Izzy do in response?" and go from there with what made the most sense. So based off that, I rolled with: "Book nerd, coffee snob yet also a lover of iced PSLs, competent details-oriented information broker, but someone who's not afraid to get her hands dirty either. All with a dash of ADHD because she keeps forgetting she should probably eat a proper meal and NOT junk food." And then I pitted that with what I thought Lucanis would react with.
So much of Caveat's early writing was me doing exactly this (referencing much of the Wigmaker Job)
Playing the game was a delight because I can't believe how much I got right adfasdfsda
