Conductr Ableton Live Controller
For all that it is worth, any sort of hardware of software that makes Ableton easier to use is worth a try. Those who are not confined to their bedrooms using the DAW will eventually need a better way to activate samples and clips beyond the keyboard and mouse. Every Ableton user will have to find the time to warp and edit tracks on their computers before it can be used lives – but during live use they want to remove as much of the computer as possible. Aside from a budget controller like the Novation Launchpad or something as advanced as Ableton’s own Push controller, there is room on the iPad for something easier to grow. There are various iOS apps out there that allow a wireless touch program to control a larger computer. One of the first was TouchOSC, which gave you nothing more than an open playing field to arrange faders, sliders, and knobs. From there, the apps began to become a bit more specific – which better layouts that made more sense. Conductr is similar to the apps that are already out there – but there is one specific difference that sets it apart from TouchOSC, and that is the ability to label each control with something instantly recognizable. http://www.synthtopia.com/content/2013/08/22/conductr-the-first-ableton-live-controller-ipad-specifically-designed-for-live-performance/
