I am doing my chores today...or at least some of them. I don't understand why I don't smarten up regarding doing the laundry. When I was just "me, myself and I", I never used to do them unless I had to. More often then not, I did them once a month. Yes I know, I am a lazy cow (at least what laundry concerns).
You might think that I was walking around like a "bag lady" all scruffy and smelly, but that was never the case. I can not state that I looked smart the days before I pushed myself into taking on a months heap of clots. But at least I got to circulate my cloths and see what "hidden treasures" my wardrobe held.
When the girls arrived, I though I would need to wash every days as you always hear how "messy kids are". So I was kid of surprised when I brought the girls home and figured out that they hardly made a mess at all. So I didn't have to change my habit even if I probably did the laundry more often (then once a month).
But the "laundry revolution" came more or less when they started their solids. Not really straight away, but at least when they started eating themselves. It is slowly improving, but they start out the day clean and spotless, and when they go to bed their cloths are far from clean.
I keep promising myself on days like today, that I will get one machine started a day. Because today I couldn't stuff anything into my laundry bag for colored cloths. No matter how much I pushed, it kept falling down on the floor. I could not postpone the inevitable any longer. So today is LAUNDRY day. Both the washing machine and the tumble dryer will run warm by the end of the evening, and I just folded heaps of fresh cloths that I washed during the week. I don't hate getting the cloths clean, but I really HATE folding them up and organizing them into the wardrobes. I think THAT is what's keeping me from doing the laundry more often.
But if I did ONE machine each and every day, it would be manageable. So why don't I just pull up my sleeves and make the "laundry revolution" a success. I have lost count on how many times I have asked myself this very same question, and it isn't that I have not tried. I do well for a few days, and then I slack behind. Do I lack character?
Since we (the girls and I) live in a country that is more cold then hot...my little girls "always" have one layer of wool underneath their regular cloths. Most of them can be washed in the machine, but you can't tumble dry them. So I have to have the cloth rack inside the house to be able to get them dry. Our apartment is a "tight squeeze", so I avoid doing them. I hate it when there is less space for the girls to do their rumble and tumble.
But for that reason, we need loads of them to get around, and the prize of them is just ridiculous. One wool body/rumper is no less then 20 pounds (and that is if I buy the cheap stuff). Just calculate the cost of two girls wearing one each day seven days a week (14 x 20)...and that is if I did the laundry each week. They also use wool under their pj's as I keep the window ajar in the bedroom and it gets kind of cold (they do have a nice warm duvet but they refuse to use it).
But forget the price of things (even if it really bugs me)...I just needed to write this to materialize my thoughts, and hopefully I will be able to stick to my "laundry revolution" now that I have said it out "aloud" for all my 38 followers to see.
