Taylor Guardado vs Laura Sanchez | PFL 6, 2021

We got some fun context for this fighter - Taylor Guardado (4-2).

Guardado has had a weird career. She was a hot prospect for women's 135lbs back in the early 2010s. She went 9-1 on the amateur circuit, only losing to Ronda Rousey. She was supposed to be on an early Invicta card circa 2012 but dropped out due to a serious knee injury. From there, I think she just got married and had a couple of kids. She appeared out of nowhere back in 2020 to participate in the Invicta FC: Phoenix Series 3 tournament for the bantamweight title. She ended up winning her first two fights that night before losing to Taneisha Tennant in the final. And because of the way the Phoenix tournaments are structured, she technically started her career 0-1 because of it.

She then popped up in PFL in 2021, winning three fights before losing to Kayla Harrison in the finals of the PFL season. She won a fight back in 2023 and seems to be back again to fight for Invicta this year.

Guardado make her Invicta FC debut at Invicta FC 55 this Friday (June 28) as the promotion makes their CBS Sports Network debut. She will be facing off with Yoko Higashi (8-4).
