In times of stress I always find myself retreating back to tumblr. The mindless reblogging is always soothing & it’s somehow more peaceful here than other social media platforms.

2023 - new beginnings
I’m starting a new job on Monday. My first new role in 10+ years. It’s also the first time being back at work for a year as I’ve just completed a period of maternity leave, & on top of that, it’s my first time physically being in an office for nearly 3 years.
I’m taking a big risk with this job as it involves a big pay cut (right in the middle of a cost of living crisis 🤦🏼♀️) & it’s a whole new career direction for me. If it works out how I hope it will 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻 there’s a lot of opportunity for progression, I’m also going to get lots of training & the role is close by too so I’m hoping it will be a better fit for me & my family.
I’ve been busy building a new wardrobe in preparation & I believe that if I can nail that, & start the new role feeling confident, comfortable & good about myself, that will be a good starting point (any excuse to shop 😉).
I thought I was leaving tumblr but tbh I now think I’d prefer to spend more time here this year than on other social media sites. It’s so much calmer.
1. I read 40 books this year ✅
2. I got a new job, I start on Jan 9th - it’s a completely new career direction & I’m making the move from working in education to the corporate world so we will see how that goes…✅
3. Kind of, I’m in physio, which is gentle exercise I guess
4. I smashed this. I lost 46lbs of pregnancy weight & am back to my ideal weight ✅
5. Let’s not forget I had A BABY this year. The most adorable boy you ever did see 🥰
ETA
6. I exclusively breastfed for the year (a full year on Wednesday) & it’s been such a beautiful experience.
34 books read this year… can I make it to 40?
