16 July 1926 Letters to VƩra by Vladimir Nabokov
When my baby was born early, & she was in hospital for what felt like an eternity, I kept saying to myself āsheāll come home, sheāll turn one & two & three & four & then sheāll start school & this will all be a distant memoryā. What I didnāt realise was how quickly that moment would come. My tiny little dot of a baby starts school tomorrow & she is so grown up & we are so proud of her (& we are also super emotional about the whole thing!).

Odd how rare it is to meet people who say things that we ourselves could have said.
July 13, 1932 Virginia Woolf, āA Writerās Diaryā (1918 - 1941) originally published: 1953
I am preposterously tired; this morning when I was supposed to get upāthe night merely having tired me the moreāI heartily cursed everything around me, myself in particular.
July 13, 1913 Letters to Felice by Franz Kafka First published : 1973
I read of women who give as a reason for their continued interest in work after their marriage the fact that they become restless and bored and lonesome in their houses. I could scarcely believe my eyes. I find an ever deepening joy in solitude and have too much with which to fill my time ā to read, to study, to write, to sculpture, to sing and dance ā so much, I wish my days and life were longer, and I envy those who have too much time on their hands.
