Colonel Ilan Ramon, IAF (June 20, 1954 – February 1, 2003)
Although this week is always a sad one as we remember the sacrifices of the fallen astronauts, here’s a happy picture of the STS-107 crew celebrating their upcoming mission. I always prefer to celebrate the astronauts’ lives and their accomplishments while they were alive, instead of focusing on the tragedy of the day. I think many in the space community feel the same way.
February 1, 2003: 17 years ago today - David Brown, Rick Husband, Laurel Clark, Kalpana Chawla , Michael Anderson, William McCool, and Ilan Ramon perish when their space shuttle, Columbia, broke apart during reentry.
May they RIP ❤️
Laurel Clark (born Ames, IA, 10 March 1961 – 1 February 2003)
Remembering astronaut Dr. Laurel Clark, born on March 10, 1961 in Ames, Iowa. After a 16-day mission in space, she perished in the Space Shuttle Columbia disaster in February 2003.
