If someone were to write a fanfic sex story of the AT&T girl banging Jan from Toyota, I would read the hell out of that.

First, let me make it clear that I find this particular spot very charming. Game and sparkly actors? Check. Cute concept? Check. Adorable chameleon? Check!

Toyota had used the Jan character previous to this spot, but I’m convinced this is the one that locked her in as a Permanent Pitchwoman. She’s perky, bright, and cute as a button as she faces off with the ferocious beast (dawww). I bet an army of grandpas sent warm regards to Toyota in thanks for bringing such a shining little star to the planet’s attention.

Even though that spot aired just 2.5 years ago, it feels like the neverending Jan spots have been airing for a generation. Serious Jan Fatigue. And it’s not her fault…you know that saying about lightning in a bottle. They’ve been shoving her out there with mediocre dialogue & lame storylines, banking on her measurable charm to do all the work.

In the most recent commercials she’s literally sitting behind a desk in a knit hat saying “it’s wintertime” in a tone that should suggest “brrr don’t we all hate winter” but after what seems like a millennium of dull Jan commercials could just as easily sound like “BEFORE I COME UNDONE SAVE ME SAVE ME FROM THE NOTHING I’VE BECOME.”

We believe in you, Jan! It’s time to move on. And maybe the marketing firm responsible for this tedium can have the interns think up some new ideas that aren’t stale and mundane and lazy.
