“your best american girl,” mitski, iron city bham (2/21/22) 🕊
mitski: I feel like a commodity and a subhuman good meant only for consumption, here are several songs that critique capitalism and express how the suffocation of parasocial relationships caused me to withdraw from music and social media
mitski fans:
SHE WAS SO PRETTY AND ALL LOML
hey there mitski fans! i saw mitski tonight (2/28/2022) in phoenix and it was amazing! this being said, i wanted to warn anyone who might need it that there are some accessibility issues.
chai opened for mitski and while their energy was exuberant and contagious, their lighting was incredibly overstimulating and unsafe for photosensitive epileptics and those with migraines. mitski's part was somewhat better, but there was still a lot of flashing and strobing throughout her songs as well! i feel like this is really important to talk about, so i wanted to mention it.
some other notes: the phoenix venue (the van buren) was MOSTLY wheelchair and rollator accessible. there weren't any steps into or throughout the venue preventing me from using my rollator (there was a second floor though, and i am unsure if there is an elevator to reach it?). it was a standing venue, but once the staff saw that i was a mobility aid user they directed me to the ada seating (there were no seats left but there was space for me to sit with my rollator)! it was right next to the stage, which meant i got front row seats to see miss mitski up close! we even made eye contact a few times.
so overall, this concert was somewhat accessible for those with mobility issues but very inaccessible for people with photosensitivity, whether that be due to epilepsy, migraines, or sensory processing issues.
please share this so that people know what to be prepared for when they go to a laurel hell tour concert!
Mitski live in São Paulo, Brazil for Laurel Hell tour
I saw mitski in Detroit last night and it was awesome. It’s hard to tell if this crowd was an outlier but there really wasn’t any major problems with the crowd, everyone was high energy and respectful for the show and it was a lot of fun
so I saw mitski tonight and hearing “I will” just completely made me tear up I wasn’t expecting it ;.; also I just love her??? like she’s so powerful, her choreography hits hard, and I just 🥺🥺🥺 lots of feelings rn I’m just completely taken by her as an artist and performer and human
