“Hey you,” Zoe smiled. Seeing the other witch she couldn’t help but feel some relief. Things have been stressful lately, and quite frankly a little distraction could be what she needed. “What’chu doing?”

a loss of the control that carrie had worked so hard on for so long was what brought her to miss robichaux's academy in the middle of the night, drenched to the bone from the louisiana rain and looking like a drowned rat. she had felt almost as desperate as she’d been on the night of the incident, fleeing from a town that she had tried to make a home in in the middle of the night with the authorities hot on her trail. she had been afraid to approach the academy for help, despite everything that they’d promised. she was afraid that they’d look at her as a hopeless case, someone with too large of a body count for even them to be able to help.

but cordelia had simply taken one look at her before sending someone to fetch towels to dry her off. she had been welcomed with open arms, despite the older woman knowing the full truth of her identity. she’d given carrie a set of clothes, all of it in blacks and whites, that had been set aside for similar cases such as her’s. miss goode had even gone so far as to assign her a room with as few roommates as possible to help soothe her anxiety about being around so many people. she was a good woman, one that the younger blonde could sense really cared about those under her care. it went a long way to helping her feel more relaxed about her decision, more comfortable within the academy’s walls.

of course, carrie had still found herself too frightened and anxious to eat with the other girls for the first few days that she was there. the crowded eating area had reminded her too much of the lunch room of her other schools, of all the teasing and eating alone and having the lunch that her mother had fixed for her ripped away. but after a week there, the blonde finally found the courage to creep down to join the other girls for breakfast. dressed in a simple black dress, she hovered on the fringes of the room, watching the others carefully and searching for a place to sit.
