John: Time for my gayness!
Paint Me a Birmingham
Prompt: Could you possibly write a poly! Hamilsquad x reader where the reader has to paint something in the shared apartment or house and the guys find her in their clothing covered in paint or something? Pairing: Poly!Hamilsquad X Reader TW: food fight, painting, mentions wearing SO's clothes??? Fluff!!! Fluff!!! FLUFF!!! A/N: sorry this took so long, and I'm sorry it's short! I wanted it to be short and sweet, so I hope you like it! Thank you for being so patient, loving, and supportive! I love you! If you want me to tag something, please tell me! I want you to feel safe when reading my work! Please enjoy! Word Count: 921 For some reason, John had thought it was a brilliant idea to throw spaghetti, with sauce, at the white wall in the living room to see if it would stick. It did for a minute, but then it slid down the wall. Amused by this, and to your utter dismay, Alex joined him as they both began launching spaghetti at the wall. It eventually escalated into a full blown food fight that you, regrettably, got involved in. At the time, you were screaming and laughing. Now, not so much. For starters, the room still smelled like spaghetti. That, and the walls were stained with red sauce. It looked like a murder scene. Your clothes were ruined, and it took forever to wash all the spaghetti out of your hair. It was a disaster. You had decided to surprise the boys by repainting the room while they were at work since you had the day off. You had always found their white room to be a bit dull. Now, you got to pick out the perfect color! You came home from Home Depot with a container of a soft ocean breeze blue and a neutral cream. The blue would be your accent wall and accents color! Agh! You were so excited!!! You had even bought some light blue accent pillows and stencils for patterns on the wall! You'd have to stop by a dollar store or maybe a Target for a nice air freshener. Maybe you had watched a few too many home improvement episodes. You didn't want to ruin another pair of clothes, so you found one of Herc's old flannels, a pair of Alex's boxers since he was the smallest, and you tied your hair back. You got to work moving the furniture and putting tarp and tape down. You'd seen too many disasters for the lazy man. Your mama didn't raise a fool. Once you had finally gotten everything taped and moved, you grabbed your rolled, tin, and tray, and you got to work. While you were optimistic... it was kind of a disaster. Somehow, you had gotten a ton of paint dripped on you, and you accidentally stepped in the paint tray, getting paint footprints on the tarp. How did people make this look so easy? And it was getting really toasty! You kept your cool though, and kept painting, singing to yourself as you moved onto other walls, painting them cream. The spaghetti stains were gone in no time! You grabbed your tape and your stencils, and you went to work on your dry walls, painting the decorations. It was deft work. You had to be precise and careful so that it didn't look tacky. Painting had taken much longer than you'd originally anticipated, as the boys arrived home sooner than you were ready for. You were a sight for sore eyes. You were covered from head to toe in blue and cream paint, but you had the cutest smile on your face. "Hey guys!" You called as you continued to paint. John started laughing as he made his way over to you. "You're so cute, ya know that, darlin'?" He took the brush from you and continued your work, which was prudent considering he was the artist of the family. "You decided to repaint?" Alex asked, and you nodded. He grinned at you broadly. "Awesome! I think it's your calling! This looks so good!" "Aww, mon cher! Tu achètes les petits oreillers bleu! Très magnifique!" Laf was squeaking, and you glanced at Alex for translation. "He's excited about the pillows," he elaborated, and you laughed. Herc was studying the walls. "Blue, wow. It's perfect." He looked at you with a genuine, soft smile, and your heart melted. They made you so happy! You just wanted to hug the daylights out of them! "Come here, Herc! Lemme hug you!" You launched yourself at him, and while Alex stumbled out of the way, Herc caught you and held you at arms length. "How about you get washed up? We'll finish painting, and then we can snuggle in our beautiful, blue living room?" He asked you as he ran his hands up and down your arms. "Awesome! Don't miss me too much!" You called as you headed towards the shower. "Already do!" He called back. "Oh, and Y/N?" You paused. "You look so sexy in my flannel, covered in paint..." You bit your lip and looked at your feet, a blush creeping down your neck while the other boys whistled. Your shower was brisk, to say the least. When you did finally come back, the boys had cleaned up everything. John had finished the lovely accents. Laf was on the couch, clutching one of the pillows to his chest while grinning at the TV. Alex had changed out of his work clothes and was cuddling John on the love seat. You took your seat between Herc and Laf, and you were quickly engulfed in a hug. "We need to throw spaghetti around more often if it means you'll wear one of my flannels... and only my flannel..." Herc purred in your ear. "That, and more pillows!" Laf added, and Herc laughed. "That, or you could just bring me a flannel," you retorted, and Herc grinned. "I'll have to keep that in mind," he chuckled as he leaned back against the couch, and you snuggled against him. Laf snuggled his pillow next to you as you enjoyed the calming blue of the walls. Maybe painting wasn't such a bust.
A beautiful experience of love and acceptance
So... I’ve been raised in a pretty conservative, Christian household. My family is mostly tolerant but some of the people who we go to church with are not. Anyway, yesterday there was an opportunity for members of the congregation to go up to the pulpit and share their beliefs and experiences that have strengthened their faith. One of the men who went up to speak is a women’s football coach. Two of his players were engaged and asked him to photograph their wedding. He talked about his struggles in accepting the job as homosexuality goes against his personal beliefs. However, he came to the conclusion that it isn’t his place to judge them and that God sent him to love everyone. So he talked about how beautiful their wedding was and how amazing it was to see how much love they have for each other. Then he proceeded to tell an affronted congregation that love is beautiful regardless of the people in the relationship. That no one is here to judge others. That we’re all just humans making our way the best we can. And then he said something I’ll never forget. Who are we to judge others just because they sin differently than us. The normally somewhat chatty congregation fell silent until he finished. Glares were shot in his direction as he made his way back to his seat, some people even angrily whispering to their heteronormative family units in outrage. Yet he held his head high, a true example of love and acceptance.
As someone who has struggled with my own sexuality and identity for so long, I can’t even begin to explain how incredible it is to be alive at this time. To see the world change and become more accepting. I know there are still people who are going to hate. People who are going to oppress and try to stop me and my friends from living life to its fullest. I also know there are people out there who love us unconditionally. United we stand. Together we rise.
