LESLIE BURR WEST END REVIEW

I had the honor of seeing Leslie as Burr in London today so I thought I'd write a quick review.

1. Right at the beginning of the show, Leslie comes on stage and tries to start singing his song but is cut off by roaring applause so he had to wait till everyone stopped cheering and then had to restart

2. After I Know Him King George sits down on a stool on the side of the stage and immediately starts dancing and hopping around and generally being really goofy. As Leslie came on during The Adams Administration he turns and looks at King George who just very enthusiastically waves at him while bouncing in his seat. The audience was laughing so much and it was all so ridiculous that Leslie broke character and started laughing.

3. During the scene where Phillip is showing Hamilton his singing/piano/french skills (🎶and i just turned nine. You can write rhymes but you cant write mine🎶) he spammed that toddler squat dance which was super goofy and then ran off jumping and twirling.

4. I will forever be confused by the fact that they changed the "Weehawken. Dawn. Guns. Drawn." lyric to "Jersey. Dawn. Guns. Drawn." in the West End version. When I saw the show a month ago I thought the actor just messed up the lyric by accident but nope.

5. Leslie played Burr completely differently than he did 10 years ago (yeah duh but still it was nice). In the pro-shot he's more fierce and almost madly driven to succeed no matter what. In this production, Burr is all smiles and he's very playful and cheery about the whole thing. He portrayed Burr as more sensitive and as if he really did care about Hamilton. When he shot Hamilton he cried through a couple lines.

6. In general, all the actors KILLED it and even when Leslie's run ends it's worth watching this cast. I saw the 25/26 cast in June and was kind of worried I'd get bored during the show since I've seen it so many times but all of the performers really made these characters their own and gave all of them their own little quirks that made you feel like you were watching a whole new show.

7. THE SEATS!! I sat in the royal circle slips AA1 and please DONT SIT THERE it was worse than people said on seatplan. I only saw half of the stage (and thats me being generous) even when leaning forwards so there were times when id miss whole songs that were on the right side of the stage. If it's not your first time seeing the show live and you're there for a celebrity casting like Leslie that you want to see close by then sure you can consider it but i don't think it was worth it

michelle obama was the 44th first lady, a concept i'm not sure you understand yet. it is an awkward moment of the year for me, july. there aren't any holidays near - halloween, christmas & my birthday are all late autumn/winter. i'm off school next week but i'm afraid i'll die of boredom. i will be going to coastal france at some point, south of jersey, and am looking forward too it. but that's so long away, mr jefferson :(. i do hope your summer will be more interesting than mine.

Hi Hamilton oc because @insanityinablog / @ask-eleanorrivington made a turn: Washington Spies oc so I got inspiration to revamp my Hamilton the Musical oc :D

I don't have a name for him yet so he's just my nameless twink OC for now...💔 (PLEASE leave name ideas, I'll put them all on a wheel on that one site and whoever wins is his name😭).

Anywho background talk:

He was originally just some guy—he is around 24 at the time his main story—working at his sister's bakery with her... Kinda. They were living more in the South then after the Revolution they had moved to Philadelphia. He can't exactly bake for SHIT but he can paint, so that's what he does! He makes paintings for the bakery so his older sister can make some extra money. As much as he's been trying, he truly hasn't been able to get an official job yet and his mom is slowly getting impatient with him. Don't get her (I'll most likely call her Sarah or something) wrong, she loves her only sibling that's practically her son so much! But that's why Sarah is pestering him to get a job quicker. He's going around town, just trying to get ANY job out there to be honest, from working on a farm to a butcher's apprentice. A good pay is the only criteria, and for him? The pay doesn't have to be much.

This day and been the same as any other since they moved to Philadelphia, a few months ago. Now it's December, though early enough for no snow (thankfully), it's still very cold out. He's out looking for a job anyway he can, from sunrise to nearly sun set. Ultimately, he ends with no luck other than some <s>fucker</s> man laughing right in his face because he “looks too soft for this work.” Honestly, it can't be THAT hard to be a dock runner... He just wants to go home and lay down sadly, that means he has to pass through his sister's bakery which is always quite crowded around this time. He slows to a stop in front of the door, taking a deep breath before opening the door. The first thing that's in the line of sight is his sister talking with a far too well dressed man, that he does not recognize... At all. When Sarah notices her younger brother, she lights up.

“Oh, [insert nameless OC's future name]! We were just talking about you! This man works for President Washington. He'd come in for a baked good, obviously, but he had seen your paintings and—”

She's cut off by [insert nameless OC's future name], “Sarah... Please just get to the point, I'd like to go to bed.”

Sarah rolls her eyes, “Wow, your manners are soooo good. He wants to hire you to do portraits of the leaders of the branches in the cabinet. You know, that thing President Washington made up for the government?”

[insert nameless OC's future name] eyes widen, “What?? You're joking... Right, Sarah?! I mean, they're not even that good!”

Anddd I'm too lazy to finish the rest of that. But after some talking with the man, he convinces [insert nameless OC's future name] to work for him/Washington.

One thing is, [insert nameless OC's future name] is absolutely fascinated by Thomas Jefferson's flower garden back in Monticello. He's even drawn it a few times in the past when him and his sister lived down in Virginia which admittedly was kinda creepy of him. One sad thing is, the guy is insanely shy and happens to space off... Quite a bit. That's when he first talked to Thomas Jefferson himself!... Kinda— he'd been invented to a cabinet meeting to take notes on Jefferson and Hamilton's appearance (this takes place around Cabinet meeting 2, idgaf if it's accurate or not Hamilton the Musical isn't entirely historically accurate either). [insert nameless OC's future name] was doing that until he staring off.. and just his luck, right at Jefferson. He doesn't even notice until the man turns to him and simply says:

“Is there something wrong?”

The end😋

Basically what happens if you don't wanna read the last bit:

[insert nameless OC's future name] has central heterochromia so that's why his pupils are a kinda green-blue!

And then he dies in the 1793 Philadelphia out break of Yellow fever

it is mostly in appearance - same facial structure, same hair etc. i do also enjoy your shared attitude towards france. he drinks pretentious wine and took 2 years to live in paris, as well as being generally disliked by the people around him (i apologise, the lengths that Hamilton and Washington go to to gang up on you are somewhat hilarious). the main difference i would point out is his distain for voting - having to be influenced by michelle obama just to vote. i may be going on, mr jefferson, goodnight.
