Soulmates. Something you had learned about from a young age. Your parents had found each other when they were just thirteen years old and they had been inseparable ever since. Growing up hearing their story always made you long to find your soulmate. You would listen intently whenever you met someone new or went somewhere new. You dreamed of having the same story your parents did, that same sweet, unyielding love they had for each other.
Unfortunately, you didn’t find your soulmate throughout your middle school years, high school years or even in college. By the time college came around you pretty much gave up on finding your soulmate, thinking you were one of those people who just didn’t have one. You had become resigned to your fate and learned to deal with the fact that you didn’t have a soulmate. You used to get upset by the fact that there were people who had multiple soulmates, that could hear each other's thoughts. How unfair that one person can have more than one and I don’t even have one?
You of course had everyone around you, telling you that your soulmate was out there, be patient, they’ll find you when you least expect it. You had heard it all and had decided to stop listening. You were fine, you were happy on your own, besides soulmates are overrated anyway.
With this mentality you lived your life day to day, looking for little things to find the most joy in. One of those things? Your local record store. You walked in saying hello to the cashier, before heading back to browse through the records.
Wanted Dead or Alive by Bon Jovi started playing over the speakers. You smiled to yourself as you started humming along.
“I’m a cowboy on a steel horse I ride, I’m wanted (Wanted) Dead or alive, Wanted (wanted) Dead or alive…..oh and I Ride!”
God, that’s a great song.
What did you say?
You stop what you’re doing when you hear the voice. You look on either side of you and then behind you, but don’t see anyone. You shake your head at yourself.
That what was weird, guess it was all in my head.
What was?
You stop and look around again, this time you see a man who looks around your age with long, dark hair tied back and brown eyes.
“Did you just say something?” You ask, looking at him warily.
“That depends,” he replies.
“On?”
“On what you heard.”
“A question I guess, two actually,” you try to explain. You shake your head at yourself.
No, it was all just in my head.
Technically you’re right, but it's me you’re hearing.
You look up at him with wide eyes, waiting to see his mouth move with the words you’re hearing.
You can hear me, can’t you?
You shake your head in response and disbelief.
“You can!” He says aloud, excitedly. “Say something in your head again.”
I can’t believe this happening.
“This is very much happening,” he smiles widely.
You look at him still shocked and confused.
“So,” you start slowly, trying to wrap your head around this, “we’re soulmates.”
“Yes,” he smiles, “yes we are.” He laughs lightly. “You look thoroughly shocked. What did you think you’d never find me?”
“No, I didn’t,” you shake your head. “I thought I was one of those people who just didn’t have one.”
He smiles gently walking closer until he was standing right in front of you. He takes your hands in his.
“Well, love, turns out you’re one of the lucky ones.”
And that’s when you feel it. The Ties or Strings, your parents called them. They said it was like there was invisible strings that tied you to your soulmate the moment you touched. You were bound to each other.
You exhale and a smile finally graces your face.
Beautiful.
You look up to see him staring at you and your smile grows and before you know it, you’re throwing your arms around his neck and pulling him into an embrace. You feel no hesitation from him, instantly wrapping you up in his arms. You’re stunned by how right it feels to be in this strangers' arms.
You release your hold on him and he does the same. You step back with a shy smile and hold out your hand.
“I’m (Y/N), thought maybe you should know name, seeing as were soulmates and all.”
He chuckles at you and grasps your hand with his.
“Alexander, but feel free to call me, Alex.” He smiles at you. “I mean seeing as were soulmates and all.”
You laugh as your cheeks flush.
“How about we go get some coffee and get to know each other a little better,” he releases your hand only to grab your other.
You look at your intertwined hands and back up at him.
“Well, I don’t usually go out with people I've just met, but since your soulmate I guess it's alright.”
He throws his head back as he laughs and you find you like that, that he was happy, that you made him happy. It made your heart stutter in the most wonderful way.
“Come on,” he says as he pulls you along.
*
You make it to the coffee shop and Alex can’t stop smiling. You keep taking shy glances at him and it takes him a moment to realize your hands hadn’t come unclasped.
You both ask each other a stream of questions about your respective lives and find you have a similar taste in music.
“Anyway, my parents wake up and my sister and I are covered in extinguisher fluid, my brother is covered in pancake batter and my mothers favorite carpet is ruined.”
You laugh retelling the story of how you and your siblings once started a small fire while trying to make pancakes.
“Oh my god,” he laughs along in disbelief, “what did your parents do?”
“Well, we were all grounded for one week and banned from ever using the kitchen without their supervision,” you chuckle and shrug. “Wasn’t that bad if you think about it.”
He chuckles once more before turning serious.
“Is everything okay?” You ask worriedly.
“Yeah,” he nods, looking lost in thought. “Its just,” he pauses, “there’s something I want to ask you.”
“Okay.”
“Have you ever heard anyone else before?”
Your face scrunches up in confusion.
“The way I heard you today?” He nods. “No, I never have.” You pause, he still looks lost in thought, looking down at the table. “Have you?”
He looks up at you now, a small bit of fear in his eyes as his hand tightens for a moment on yours. As if he’s afraid you’ll run away.
“I”- he starts and stops. “I have.”
“You have?”
“Yes, but not just one.” He cringes as he makes his confession.
“How many?”
“Three.”
“Three?”
“I have three other soulmates,” he says quickly.
“Oh my god,” your hand slips from his for the first time since you met, as you place them on your head. “Three soulmates,” you repeat trying to wrap head around it.
It's not unheard of sure, but three. You just found out you actually had a soulmate and now he has three other soulmates.
What if they can’t hear me? What if I can’t hear them? What if I only hear one of them? Or two of them? What if they ask him to choose? I can’t ask him to give up his soulmates. What if they don’t like me? What if-
Your racing thoughts are cut off by Alex’s gentle touch on your arm.
“Hey, hey, hey,” he says trying to calm you. “Your thoughts are making me dizzy,” he chuckles.
“What if"-
“They would never make me choose and I know they’re going to love you,” he caresses your face. “Everything is going to be okay.”
You sigh, calming at his touch. He moves to sit next to you, wrapping an arm around your shoulders and pull you close.
“You don’t know that.”
“I’ve got a feeling,” he says brushing his nose against yours before kissing it.
You giggle and snuggle into him.
Everything is going to be okay.
I promise.
You smile and look up at him, he smiles down at you and kisses your forehead.

.
You decide it’s too much in one day to meet so many soul mates at once so you both decide to do it a few days later. You’re incredibly nervous as Alex walks you up the steps to the apartment, he shares with his other soul mates and quite possibly yours.
He turns to you.
"You sure you're ready for this?"
You nod and give him a nervous smile.
He smiles and kisses your hand in his.
"I told them to be on their best behavior, so don't worry."
You chuckle lightly and squeeze his hand.
You take a deep breath as he opens the door. And you're immediately greeted with an onslaught of thoughts.
Oh, they’re back.
She’s finally here.
Gosh, I really hope all of this works.
Everything is going to be fine, don't worry.
Oui, mon cher, we'll all be alright.
Remember Alex wanted us to try and quiet our thoughts so we don't overwhelm her.
You pause in the doorway as you hear them all at once.
Alex grabs your arms to steady as you sway a bit.
"Are you okay, love?"
You laugh to yourself as you gain your balance and you realize you don't have to worry. You can hear them. All three of them in your head, three distinctive voices. Not only that, but you can feel the same pull you felt with Alex. The strings tying you to your three other soulmates. You look up at Alex.
"I can hear them," you say with a breathless smile.
Four soulmates, there's something I never thought would happen.
"You can?" He smiles brightly at you.
You nod with the same smile.
"You better start believing baby because we can hear you too."
You and Alex turn to see your three other soulmates, three of the most handsome men you've ever seen.
The tallest one comes to greet you. His smile is gentle and warm, you're surprised by how much you want to run into his arms.
"It’s wonderful to meet you, Alex has told us so much about you. My name is Hercules." He gently takes your hand in his and kisses the back of your hand softly.
I don’t think I’ve ever met so many handsome men at once before.
Hercules smiles at you still holding your hand.
"Well, thank you," he chuckles. "I don’t think we’ve ever been graced with a woman as beautiful as you."
Your cheeks redden as you realize they all heard the thought.
You look behind him to see the two other men smiling from ear to ear. They are next to approach you, the one with the French accent is the first to introduce himself.
"I am Gilbert du Montier de Lafayette." He chuckles as your eyes widen. "But you, mon ange, can call me Lafayette."
He kisses your hand, much like Hercules and gives you a dazzling smile.
"And me, baby girl, I’m John Laurens, call me anything you'd like."
I cannot wait to hold you in my arms.
You smile at him.
“Well consider your waiting done.” You hold out your arms to him and he is quick to embrace you. You giggle as he nuzzles your neck. You’re once again surprised by how right it feels to be in his arms.
Lafayette is next to embrace you after John is convinced to let you go, he quickly goes into Alex’s waiting embrace. Laf holds you close and releases a breath, like he’s been waiting just to hold you and he can finally relax. He kisses your temple before he pulls away and lets Hercules have his turn.
Herc embraces you gently at first, as if your too precious to hold too tightly. He holds you tighter, when you nuzzle into his chest.
I hope you can get used to this, cupcake, because it won’t be letting up.
Get used to this? Definitely.
He chuckles and kisses the top of your head and pulls away slightly to look at you. He caresses your face as you look up at him.
“You sure you can handle all of us?”
You look away from Hercules and at your three other soulmates, staring at you expectantly with hopeful smiles.
“Can I handle being loved by four incredibly handsome and kind men?” You pretend to think about it, as they laugh. “Yeah,” you nod, “I think I can handle that.”

6 Months Later...
I’m late, I’m late, I’m late, I’m late, I’m late.
You hear Alex’s voice running through your mind, as you get ready on this particularly hectic morning since you all woke up late.
“Shouldn’t he be thinking we’re late,” John says as he slides next to you to fill his thermos with coffee as you hand him Alex’s ready to go. “We do work in the same place.”
You chuckle as you place a soft kiss to his lips and then his cheek.
“You know how one track minded Alex can be,” you placate him, rubbing his arm.
He pulls you into his arms and kisses your cheek and down to your neck.
“I think I might being getting one track minded with you,” he whispers in your ear making laugh breathlessly.
You pull him away slightly with a smile.
“Your mind should be on work,” you give him a quick kiss before pulling way completely and fixing his suit.
He sighs.
“But when we get back my minds going back,” he smirks and kisses your cheek.
“That’s fair,” you laugh. “Now, you have to get going.”
You walk behind him and lightly push him out of the kitchen.
“Alex, darling, breakfast,” you catch him just as he’s running past you to the door.
You hold out a bag for him to take and he grabs it quickly and continues, before pausing turning back and pulling you into his arms and kissing tenderly. He’s pulls away smiling.
“Thank you,” he says as he gives you a last quick peck. “I love you,” he shouts as he walks out the door.
John shakes his head and pulls you into him for a quick kiss of his own.
‘We’ll see you tonight, baby girl,” he kisses your cheek before heading out after Alex.
You laugh to yourself and turn right into Lafayette's arms.
“Have our frantic lovers left, mon ange?” He asks, as he pulls you close and nuzzles your neck.
You giggle softly and play with his hair as he hums into your neck.
“Yes, they just walked out, although I have to say one was far more hectic than the other.”
He feel him laugh into your neck before he pulls back to place a slow, soft kiss to your lips.
“I can’t believe we have to work on a Saturday,” he sighs, resting his forehead against yours.
“I’m sorry, my love, but at least we’ll all have tonight and tomorrow to spend all together,” you try to soothe him.
He nods and caresses your cheek.
“At least,” he kisses you softly once more, before going to the bedroom.
He walks back out a few minutes later. You’re at the table finishing your coffee, and he lifts your head so you’re looking up at him. You smile and rise up from your seat so you can embrace him. He wraps his arms around you kisses your neck once.
“I will miss you, mon ange,” he says brushing some of your hair from your face.
“The day will fly by, and we’ll all be here waiting when you’re done.”
You smile gently and press your lips to his for a soft kiss.
“Now, go before you’re late, my love.”
He smiles and kisses your hand before heading for the door. You turn to head back to the kitchen, when his voice whispers in your mind.
I love you, mon coeur.
You smile as you turn back to him and think your response.
I love you.
He smiles brightly at you before closing the door behind him. As you begin washing the dishes from the quick breakfast you and Herc made this morning, you feel his arms circle around your waist. He kisses your shoulder as you lean into him.
“I’m glad I only have to go in a couple hours today.”
“I know at least I get one of you for most of the day,” you reply turning in his arms. “That's the benefit of having multiple soulmates, you’ll always have one of them with you.”
He laughs and kisses your temple, cheek and places a tender kiss to your lips.
“Truly a wonderful benefit, cupcake,” he bumps your nose with his before lifting you into his arms.
“Babe!” You giggle in surprise.
“I think we should get in some quality cuddles while we miss our soulmates together.”
“A wise suggestion, love,” you nod seriously in agreement.
He smiles wide as he jumps on the bed with you in his arms making you laugh in unison.
*
Later that evening as you’re snuggled in bed with all your lovers you sigh in contentment.
Happy, baby girl?
You laugh as you snuggle deeper into Johns chest.
With all of you? Always.
He pulls you closer and kisses the top of your head.
I am also happiest with you, mes amours.
Laf chimes in, from behind John.
I love you all so much.
Alex is next to think out from behind you.
Nothing is better than this.
Herc is the last to say, as you all snuggle in closer.
You never thought you could be lucky enough to end up with one soulmate, but now you had four and they were they best people you had ever met. You had never felt more loved, more cherished, or more complete in your life. Of course, you could say that’s a given once you’ve found your soulmate, but you’re pretty positive you’ve got the best ones out there. And as you slip into sleep you’re further convinced of the fact as you hear a gentle chorus of ‘I love yous’ in your mind.
Plot: Imagine Poly hamilsquad x a Muslim SO who’s fasting during Ramadan
ALSO sorry if I did anything wrong this is just my experience with fasting and what I think they would do, Everyone’s different though!
Expect them (Mainly John) to ask a lot of questions like:
How do you know when it’s time?-What happens if you forget?-What if you're sick?-Is it okay for your health
They’re just curious if they ask too much don’t be afraid to ask them to stop for a while
They’ll understand
Best believe when your fasting they will not eat a n y t h i n g and I mean a n y t h i n g around you
They don’t want to make it harder!
Chewing gum when you’re around?
NOT TODAY SATAN
If you ask for help with cleaning or anything they will do it for you no questions asked!
Unless you want to help to distract yourself you are not allowed to exert your body!
They will be extremely helpful for the following reasons:
If you ask for help with getting up before sunrise to eat Alex is ya boi
He wasn’t sleeping anyways He can wake up early
The rest will try but they look so frickin cute at four in the morning
Alex will help you make food in the morning even if he can barely toast bread
He’ll attempt
Alex is weirdly good at knowing the best foods that will keep you filled for the day
He’ll go against his ‘coffee is life’ attitude because Google said it dehydrates you SO ONLY WATER
You’ll have to wrestle Alex back to bed with you with cuddles and kisses
He’ll also recommend books if you’re looking for a distraction
John is really good when your mood is down or you're irritated because y o u ‘ r e s o f r i c k i n h u n g r y and will try his best to cheer you up
Your favorite way is when he’ll tell you the 13 turtle facts of the day
Mostly because he couldn’t find any more than 13
The facts are okay BUT SEEING HIS ADORABLE FACE AS HE TALKS ABOUT TURTLES GIVES YOU L I F E
HE’S JUST SO HAPPY AND SMILEY WHILE TELLING YOU HOW MUCH HE LOVES THEM AND HOW COULD YOU BE UPSET WHILE WITNESSING THIS PRECIOUS BOI
He also loves it because you seem to like hearing him talk about stuff and he just loves to see you smile!
Laf will help you make the Iftar meal! Anything you want your choice!
He will spend hours with Alex googling the best recipes because ONLY THE BEST FOR YOU
They become food experts
Even Gordon Ramsay would be impressed
But unlike Alex, Laf can actually cook more than cereal
And Herc will help you shop for food! He doesn’t really know what’s going on but preparing a big meal like that every day means more groceries and he’s good company
He’ll usually stay quiet unless you ask him to talk just because he doesn’t want to bother you
He’ll also be the one to handle conversations if you don’t want to be social while you’re fasting
If you take naps in the middle of the day to conserve energy god forbid anything wakes you up
NO ONE IS ALLOWED TO WAKE YOU UP DURING THE NAP
N O O N E
One time John got a phone call in the next room while you were napping and he forgot to put his phone on silent so he woke you up
He apologized for 37 minutes and 5.6 seconds straight
(Alex timed it)
He also turned into Evan Hansen rambling for the entire time
They will avoid e v e r y t h i n g food related in the media and outside
Which is quite an accomplishment
You guys will be driving when someone will spot a food advertisement and you have 6 hands covering your eyes
Only six because someone (probably Herc) is driving
During the day if any petty arguments happen it’s an unspoken rule to wait until sundown to talk about it
Even if you weren’t in the argument you and Herc are really good at finding a middle ground
And if you were it’s better to talk about it once everyone has calmed down and has a clearer head
Eventually though it will end and they would love to join in on the Eid celebration!
They’ll do some research but mostly they’ll ask you stuff
If you’re celebrating with your family and invite them they will m e l t
But they’ll be extra careful because again they don’t really know and don’t want to mess anything up
Tbh it’s adorable
Basically, they love you regardless of your religion and would love to learn more about it
But one thing that will always stay the same while you’re fasting is cuddles
Prepare for angst!! Polyhamilsquad x reader!! Let me know what you think! Send any ideas for Part 3 to my Ask Box!!
———————————————————————————————
Thomas never asks you how you’re doing. He never asks if you’re feeling better, or if you’ve gotten over your boyfriends. Thomas doesn’t bother to ask because he knows the answers already. Your brother knows that everything is exactly how it was the day you arrived at his door even though it’s been two weeks.
Unfortunately, Thomas isn’t the only person around you, and your other friends start to notice your sudden absence from the boys’ lives.
“Y/N, you can’t just ignore the problem” Peggy leans forward, her distinctive yellow top making her stand out among her sisters. “All five of you are miserable. John said that he tried to visit you at work the other day because you aren’t answering any of their calls, but Washington says that you’ve been working remotely from Jefferson’s apartment!”
You let out a soft sigh, glancing at the other two Schuyler sisters to see if either of them are on your side, no such luck. “Alex works at the same place I do, John works at the marine aquarium only a block north, and both Hercules and Lafayette work only two blocks south of the office. Why the hell would I go to work when all four of my ex’s are in the vicinity? I still love them, Pegs! And I thought they loved me, or were at least close to it! If I talk to them I’ll break down and I’d rather not do that while I’m at work”
Eliza lets out a soft sigh, one of her small hands reaching out to rest on yours, “Of course they love you. Alex has always been one to say stupid stuff without thinking, you know that. He’s kind of an asshole, he was even like that in high-school when I dated him for a little while, and he hasn’t changed in all these years.”
The oldest Schuyler sister nods along with Eliza, “When Alexander’s angry he’ll say whatever will hurt the most. He’s awful about confronting his feelings, so instead he hurts everyone around him. Alex thinks that if he pushes everyone he loves away it means he is less likely to get hurt.”
Letting out a soft breath, you nod and take another sip of your tea, “Yeah, I guess you’re right. It still sucks. I just don’t know if I can have my position in our relationship used as a weapon like that, it makes me question the past 10 months of my life with them. What if Alex isn’t the only one who regrets me being a part of the relationship?”
“They don’t! I promise that none of them do! Y/N, listen to me, Lafayette has been inconsolable ever since you left, Hercules has been angry, giving both John and Alex the cold shoulder, John has been beating himself up, and Alex is either working himself into an early grave or trying to find a way to contact you.” Peggy’s eyes bore into yours, “You need to talk to them. It’s not good for any of you to leave things like this, even if you guys decide to end things permanently at least everything will be out in the open.”
“I guess you’re right. I can’t exactly avoid work forever either, I don’t think George’ll survive much longer without me there. I’ve already gotten a bunch of emails from him about clients, and having to deal with Jefferson, and even him asking where the coffee is” You pull out your phone, “You think it’s too chicken to just text Laf to set up a meeting?”
Angelica raises her eyebrow, “You’re going to text Lafayette, the man who has been inconsolable ever since you left the way you did? The least that man deserves is a phone call. He and Herc didn’t do anything and you’ve been ignoring them, the only ones who you should be mad as are Alex and John, not Lafayette and Hercules”
“I hate to say this, but Angelica’s right” Eliza’s eyes flick away from yours, “Laf loves so deeply and he hurts so much when someone he loves is in pain, and now everyone that he loves is in pain and there’s no way for him to fix it because you’re avoiding all of them.”
“I know, I didn’t realize how much I was hurting all of them. When I get back to Tommy’s I’ll call one of them, I’ll set up a meeting and … and we’ll figure everything out.”
All three of the girls nod and flash bright smiles, “Good, you’ll have to let us know how it goes. All of you are still our friends and even if you guys split you’re still our friend.”
“I know, and I will. We’ll have a girls-night and I’ll tell you everything that happens, okay?”
“Sounds like a plan” Angelica finishes her coffee, “Well, we’re going to head out so you can get back to Thomas’. You have a phone call to make.”
--
Staring down at your phone you try to decide who it would be best to reach out to. Alexander is out of the question, if he was angry before he’ll be furious now and would probably refuse to meet with you on principle. John was probably the same, he and Alex almost always agreed with each other so if Alex refused to meet with you John would too. Especially if they had made up. Lafayette had always acted as the mediator between everyone, he’s the one who makes sure everyone gets along, but Eliza said that Laf wasn’t taking the separation well, so he might be too emotional. That left Hercules, he was always willing to listen and he hadn’t even been present for the fight, it seemed like he was the best choice.
The phone only rings three times before it’s picked up, “Y/N” Hercules’ deep voice breathes down the phone, “Are you alright? How have you been? We haven’t heard from you in weeks, sweetheart! We’ve been so worried!”
You let out a breathless chuckle, not expecting concern to be the first thing out of his mouth, “I’m alright, Herc, a little sick but the flu was going around the office before I started working from home, so I’m not worried. I-I’ve been staying with Tommy, we’ve been taking care of each other. I’m sorry that I’ve been avoiding everyone, I needed some time to digest everything that was said.”
“I know, sweetie, you don’t even know how pissed I was what I found out what happened. You don’t deserve to be treated like that, and Alex always seems to say things when he’s mad that hurt the people he’s closest to.”
“I know” You take a steadying breath, “I’d like to meet with everyone. I don’t want things to end the way they did. If Alexander meant what he said and really doesn’t want me in the relationship anymore I’ll respect that, but we need to talk about this. I was wondering if I could come to the apartment …”
“Yes!” If Hercules was standing in front of you he would have wrapped you in a hug, you can tell by the sound of his voice, “I’m so glad you want to talk things out, God, I’ve been so nervous that you wouldn’t ever want to talk to us again. I’ll set up a date for everyone, make sure that they know we’ll be talking everything out and then I’ll text you, okay?”
“That sounds good, Herc. Thank you” The two of you lapse into a brief moment of silence before you stare speaking again, “How is everyone? How are you doing?”
“It’s been tough without you here, sweetheart, I’ll admit it. Alex is working more than ever, Washington says that he is almost constantly hovering around your desk, waiting for you to go back. John’s quiet … he doesn’t seem depressed, but he’s not his usually happy self, he hasn’t touched his art supplies since you left. And Laf, well … Laf cries a lot. He hasn’t taken you being gone very well, and he’s been cold towards both Alex and John. He’s upset that you haven’t come back, but at the same time he doesn’t want to reach out, he wants to give you time.” Hercules lets out a soft sigh, “I’m doing alright. I’m trying to keep everyone together and be the shoulders that everyone can lean on”
You run trembling fingers through your hair, “I’m so sorry, Herc. I didn’t mean to make everything such a mess. We’ll make it better, I promise. Even if I’m not your girlfriend anymore I’d like to stay your friend, no matter what we’ll be there for each other, okay?”
“Okay, Y/N. You had better remember that when you come over, you were my friend first, so you have to stay my friend if the others want to end things romantically.” Herc lets out an empty chuckle, “We’ll just have to see”
“Everything will be fine, Herc, you’ll see. You’ll see.”
--
Hercules texts you the next day to tell you when the meet-up will be. Apparently, everyone will be at the apartment this coming Friday, and they all agreed that they can’t leave things the way they are. Even Alex agreed to be civil and try to listen to all sides of the story.
“Tommy, I’m not gonna home for dinner tonight, why don’t you go out with James? I know you haven’t been going out because of me”
Your brother lifts his head up from the couch pillows to stare at you, “Where are you going? You’ve barely left the house since … that night”
“I’m actually going to meet with the guys. I talked with Hercules, and the two of us set up a meeting. We decided that it wasn’t good to leave things as they were, and even if they don’t want me to be part of the relationship anymore we need to clear the air”
Thomas groans and sits up, his dark eyes meeting your own, “Do you want me to come with you?”
You reach out and pat his hand, “No, this is something between the five of us and I want to keep it that way”
“Fine, but you tell Hamilton that if he hurts you anymore I’ll kick his ass. And don’t give me that look, it’s my job to protect you as your big brother. We’ve been protecting each other out whole lives, and I won’t let them hurt you anymore” Thomas’ hands clench into fists, “We aren’t children anymore, Y/N, we aren’t forced into silence by our parents, forced to take the beatings and berating’s. I’d do anything for you, you know?”
You quickly stand up and sit next to Thomas, pulling his taller frame into a crushing hug, “I know, Tommy, I know. I’d do anything for you too, you know that, right?” Thomas nods against your shoulder, “Good, now, call James and go out. I know you want to visit that new club that just opened, maybe he’ll go with you”
“Yeah, maybe. A night of drinking and dancing sounds good right now”
“Good, text me the address of the place so I’ll know where to come get you after my ‘meeting’ with the guys”
Thomas grins and presses a kiss to your forehead, “Alright, I will.”
--
No matter how many layers you pile on as soon as you walk out of Thomas’ apartment building the New York winter wind pierces through them all.
“Why did I ever move up here? It’s too damn cold for this”
You quickly make your way down to the subway, with as much ice that’s on the road it’ll be safer to take that than to try for a taxi. There’s been nothing but car accidents on the news for the past few days, it doesn’t matter how much salt they put on the roads the ice seems to stay.
Lafayette’s ringtone blares out of your pocket causing several people to glare at you, but you pay them no mind any swipe to answer, “Hello?”
“Mon chéri! I have missed the sound of you!”
“I’ve missed your voice too Laf” You step onto the train and quickly find a seat, “What’s up? I’m on the subway so I’ll probably lose reception soon”
“I wanted to make sure you were still coming. I have been worried that you would, how you say, stand us up” Lafayette lets out a soft chuckle.
“I won’t, I’m on my way now. I’ll text you when I get off at the stop near the apartment, okay? Then it’ll be a fifteen-minute walk and I’ll be there.”
Several voices raise in the background, “Good, I will wait for your text then, mon chéri”
“Alright, Laf. Goodbye”
--
‘Just got off the train, omw to the appt. ETA 15 minutes’ You send the message to both Thomas and Lafayette before tucking your phone away and trying to navigate the slippery sidewalk without falling.
The entire walk is blissfully uneventful until you get within sight of the apartment. A large hand grabs you by the back of your jacket and yanks you into the alley that you are passing.
“Hey! What the -” The knife at your throat makes any more words freeze. The man in front of you nervously glances at the mouth of the alleyway, waiting to see if anyone heard your shout before he turns his attention back to you.
“Listen lady, I don’t want to hurt you” The knife pulls away from your throat, but when you glance down you notice that the man has a gun in his other hand that that it’s aimed at your chest. “Just give me all your money and no one has to get hurt”
You nod, “Alright, like you said, no one needs to get hurt. My wallet’s in my coat pocket, I’m gonna get it, okay?”
“Yeah, yeah, just hurry up” The guys keeps his eyes on your hand as you reach into your pocket and pull out your wallet, pulling out any cash you have. “This all you got? Shit, fine. You got some nice looking jewelry, gimme that too. And your coat”
Nodding again you pull off your bracelets, rings, and the necklace that Lafayette had given you at your sixth month anniversary. The man snatches the jewelry from your hands, and you slide off the thick outer coat. “There. You have everything. Can I go now?”
The man opens his mouth, his fingers tightening on the gun, “You won’t say anything about this, lady. You look rich enough, you can replace this, and no one got hurt.”
You nod quickly, not daring to say a word. He looks like he’s about to let you go when Lafayette’s ringtone starts blaring from your coat pocket again. Several things happen at once, the man lets out a shout, drops the coat on the ground, and his finger squeezes on the trigger.
It takes several seconds for you to feel the pain of the bullet entering your abdomen. “Shit! Shit, I didn’t mean to shoot you! I didn’t mean to, I swear!”
Quickly pressing a hand to the gushing wound you slowly slide down the alley wall, “W-w …”
“It’s your fault! Your phone startled me! I wasn’t gonna hurt you!” The man shoves the money and jewelry into his pockets before he throws the coat back over top of you, hiding you from view. “Damn you, lady, no was supposed to get hurt!” With one last scornful look the man sprints to the mouth of the alleyway and is gone, leaving you alone and injured in the filth.

“Alex,” you say gently, trying to catch his attention as he typed away on a document. He didn’t look up, his eyes still trained. “Honey, don’t forget to come home early today, okay? I looked at the weather…”
His typing paused, and he glanced at you, leaning over to press a chaste kiss to your cheek. “I know, sweetheart. Thank you for the lunch. I’ll see you at home soon, okay?”
You smiled softly at him, kissing his lips softly before you finally stood up to your full height and adjusted your top. You lovingly ran a hand through his hair before you left his office. On days when the weather had been forecasted to get bad, you’d stop by his office to remind him of the thunderstorms. He never liked to admit it, but they triggered him. They were his weak point.
John was next to get home, tugging off his jacket. The wind had picked up over the course of the afternoon. “Hello, sweetheart. How was your day?”
He approached you and joined you on the couch, pulling you in for a brief kiss. “It was good, you?”
He grinned at you. “It’s good now.”
You snuggled up against his side as you fixed your attention back on the television.
“Have you heard from Alex at all?” You asked suddenly, and he glanced down at you.
“No. Have you?” You shook your head in response, and he frowned.
“I’m sure he’ll be home soon,” you muttered, but you still felt nerves tug at your gut.
Laf was next to get home in his pair of dark blue scrubs, curly strands of hair hanging in his face.
“Long day?” John asked with a smirk, and Laf rolled his eyes.
“You have no idea!” He leaned down and kissed John, long and sweet, before he kissed your cheek. “Where is our Alex?”
You shrugged. “I’m sure he’s on his way.”
Laf nodded and went to the kitchen to start a pot of coffee. You pulled your legs up beside you and cuddled even closer to John. You texted Alex, asking him where he was, just for good measure.
It was when Herc got home that you really began to get nervous. You could now hear the wind howling outside as it pulled at Herc’s scarf. He shut the door behind him, shaking his head from the cold. He put his scarf and coat on the rack before he went over to the two of you and gave you each a kiss. Laf came out of the kitchen, a cup of tea in his hands. He probably made it after he made the coffee. He’d always been more of an herbal type of person. He gave Herc a gentle kiss, and a soft smile graced his lips when Herc took a sip from his mug.
“Earl Grey?” He handed the mug back to Laf, who smiled.
“You know me so well, babe.” He leaned in and eagerly met Herc’s kiss.
When they separated, Herc looked around. “Where’s Alex? He should’ve been home by now.”
His words hung heavy in the air. You knew he was right. Alex should’ve been home forever ago.
“I… I’m not sure… I reminded him at lunch today, and he’s not responding to my texts.” You admitted as you checked your phone again. Still a blank screen.
“Merde,” Laf swore softly, and Herc squeezed his shoulder. John scrolled through his phone, tapped it a few times, then pressed it to his ear. You all held your breath, then let it out in disappointment when he didn’t answer.
“We’ve gotta go find him. Now,” John was adamant, and you nodded in agreement. You needed to find Alex before the storm and get him home.
Laf sat his tea down on the side table, and Herc pulled his keys from his pocket. All of you grabbed your coats and were quick out the door. Herc drove quickly towards Alex’s office at the Law Firm. It was when the rain started to softly pitter patter against the windshield that your breath caught. Laf rubbed your arm in understanding.
As soon as the car was in park, all of you were jumping from it and running towards the door. And you didn’t care that you looked like soggy, desperate mad men. Alex was in danger, and that was all you could think about. You didn’t stop at the secretary’s desk like usual, and you didn’t pause to converse with Angie when she greeted you. You didn’t even pause when Mr. Washington called out your name. You were on a set path.
You threw open his office door, the first there, and panic gripped at you when you saw the lights were out, the blinds were drawn tight, and the room was empty. Your boyfriends paused behind you, then John shoved past into the room.
“‘Lex!” He called out, quickly moving around. “Alex?!” His voice was frantic, and he was met with a soft whimper from behind the desk. He walked behind it and crouched down. After a moment, he popped back up and nodded at the lot of you. He had found him. You let out a breath you knew you’d been holding, and you moved forward. You crept slowly around the desk and found Alex curled up in a ball, his face pressed against John’s stomach. The man that usually cared if his tie was slightly off kilter was now on the floor, crumpling his perfectly ironed suit. It broke your heart.
“Alex,” your voice was soft as you joined them on the ground. Herc and Laf stayed behind the desk, not wanting to crowd him in such a state.
A soft roll of thunder could be heard from outside, and he whimpered again, curling closer to John. You rubbed his back soothingly as John held him.
You needed to get him home. He’d feel safer there. But you didn’t know how to.
“I… The storm…” He tried to speak, but his voice came out tight and strained. You ran a hand through his messy ponytail. How long had he been curled beneath his desk?
“I know,” John murmured to him, and Alex pulled away to look up at him through teary eyes.
“I was about to leave when… when I heard the wind…” He whimpered when the thunder grumbled, a bit louder than before. You were losing time to get him home.
John shushed him. “I know, sweetheart. I know… But we gotta get you home.”
Alex gripped at his shirt, his hands tight. “Outside? No, John… Please, I can’t. I can’t face the storm, please-”
John pried Alex’s hands off his shirt and held them, pressing kisses to each of his knuckles. “I know you’re afraid, but your pills are at home, and you usually feel more secure there. And we’ll be there the entire time, okay?”
When Alex didn’t respond, he moved to get up. Alex panicked and latched onto him again. “Where’s Herc? Where’s my Hercules?”
You moved out of the way and Herc took your spot. Alex’s wild eyes settled on him, and he was quick to wrap himself around him.
“I’m right here, ALex… It’s okay,” he whispered as he rubbed his back. After Alex’s breathing had calmed down a bit, Herc stood up slowly with him, Alex holding fast.
“Don’t worry, honey. It’s a short walk to the car. You’ll be in my arms the entire time, okay-”
“The-The storm, Herc-” Alex’s voice was frantic.
“I know. We can make it. I’ll have you the entire time, okay? You can do this.” Herc sounded sure, and Alex took several deep breaths before he nodded. Herc’s grip on him tightened, and he started to walk towards the door.
This wasn’t the first time this had happened. There had been a few storms none of you had been prepared for. His work environment knew about his past and his fear of storms, and they also knew all of you and even Mr. Washington would beat the shit out of anyone that had something to say about it.
Herc’s steps were deliberate as he carried Alex through the building, all of you flocking them. A few gazes lingered on you as you passed, but you only focused on Alex. You could see that it was pouring as you neared the glass doors, and from Alex’s tense posture, you guessed that he knew this too. It was when Herc stepped out into the storm that Alex lost his Moxie and began clawing at Herc.
“No! Hercules! No, please! Let me go! Please, don’t make me go out! Please!” He cried and pleaded like his life depended on it, and he squirmed and fought, but Herc’s hold was persistent. Laf unlocked the car. Since you’d been through this before, you knew that Laf would now drive. Herc and John would try to hold Alex down and keep him sane in the backseat. You would sit shotgun. And that’s what happened, only, this time, something went wrong. Herc was fighting to buckle Alex in when a bolt of lightning jutted across the sky, and Alex went batshit. He lost his mind to the blind panic. He ended up hitting Herc in the face, taking him completely by surprise. Herc’s hands hesitated, only for a moment, but that was all he needed. Alex scrambled from the car, evading any hands that reached for him, and he took off towards the building, John in hot pursuit. The rest of you followed, but John was the closest. Alex was just a hair away from the doors when John tackled him and pinned him to the ground. Alex cursed and screamed, reaching desperately for the doors.
“Fuck you, John! Fuck you!” He screamed out bitterly, clawing at the pavement. “I hate you! I fucking hate you! Get off of me, you fuck! Let me go! I can’t believe you’re killing me! You’re a fucking murderer!” To any untrained eye, it would look like rain, but you knew it was tears that ran down John’s face as he pinned Alex down. It was hard to see him like this. “I’ll fucking kill you! Fuck you! Someone help me! Please! Don’t let them take me! Please! I can’t die! It’s too early! I-I’m not ready! Someone, please! George! Angie! For fuck’s sake, Thomas! I didn’t think I’d make it this far… I can’t die now, I can’t… I can’t…”
Alex had stopped struggling as he openly sobbed beneath John, and all of you helped slowly pull him up and drag him back to the car. He had road rash on the palms of his hands from being tackled and his fingernails were bleeding from him clawing at the pavement. All of you were sopping wet. He struggled, swore, and cried the entire car ride home.
When you finally made it, you knew you were approaching the hardest part: getting him inside. The storm was in full swing. The thunder was so loud that it shook the car around you. Rain pelted down from the sky. Lightning was the only lighting available since the sun had set. Laf and you had gotten out first, and you waited until Herc and John had signaled they were ready to open the door. As soon as you did, Alex went rabid. He even went as far as to bite John, who swore sharply, but to his credit, he didn’t release him. Thunder boomed around you, and Alex howled. He thrashed in their hold and even Laf joined in to hold Alex around the middle. You shut all the car doors and followed them. They moved slowly, each step a war.
“Please, don’t let them kill me, Y/N,” his screaming had changed and his eyes met yours, begging you sincerely. “Please, don’t. You love me, right? I know you love me! They’re going to kill me, but you… you can stop them! Please, help me!” You bit your lip and looked away. You were already helping him, whether he could see it or not.
When you didn’t reply, he turned bitter. “Fuck you, too! I knew you didn’t love me! I knew it! You’re just going to let me die? Fuck you! I won’t miss you, then. Maybe, when they lay me in the ground, you can tell them how you signed my death certificate yourself!”
His words were sharp like the cutting rain, and they pulled at your heart like the wind stripped the trees. You knew he didn’t mean it, that he was lost in his fear, but it hurt nonetheless.
“Just kill me already!” He cried out desperately as the rain drilled down. He stared up at the sky for a moment, still struggling. “Why prolong the inevitable? Just let me die, please? Make it quick! Can’t you see I’m suffering? Put me out of my misery, please, please. What have I done to deserve this? What have I done?”
You finally made it to the front door, and you held it open as they struggled. However, as soon as Alex saw the sanctuary, his struggling seemed to be in the direction of home. As soon as they crossed the threshold, his body went slack, and he stopped rambling. You went off to find the pill bottle while the others tried to stabilize him. When you came back, he was wrapped in a blanket and pressed against John. He looked so small and vulnerable. Laf was holding a warm cup of tea. You knew he had decided against coffee since the caffeine could add to his panic. It took some coaxing, but he finally took the pills and began to sip the tea. Thunder rattled outside, causing him to wince and curl against John. Her sat on the other side of him, seeming to hide him from the world. You moved forward, seeing Alex’s body language moving towards sleepy. “Hey, let’s get you into some dry clothes, yeah?” You asked softly, his cruel words still chipping away in your head.
His eyes darted up to yours, unsure, but then he nodded. You gave him a reassuring smile, and you helped him stand. He clung to you as you led him down the hall, through the bedroom, and eventually to the closet in the bathroom. The storm wasn’t so loud on this side of the house, and that helped to calm him. You carefully helped him remove his soggy and somewhat bloody suit, leaving it crumpled on the floor. He could be upset about it tomorrow. You held him up as he slowly tugged on a pair of sweatpants. He let you pull Herc’s hoodie over his head, and once it was on, he was quick to pull you into an embrace. He buried his face in the crook of your neck, his breath quick and warm. He said nothing, he just held you there briefly. Eventually, he pulled away, and you were able to lead him towards the bed. The others had already gotten changed and were waiting in bed. You helped him crawl up to join them, giving him a kiss on the cheek, before you went to change. You stripped as fast as you could and carelessly threw dry clothes on, eager to get back to him. The storm still raged outside, but his meds were kicking in, and he was safe inside from it. You grabbed your phone and headphones from the nightstand, racing to opening the playlist you’d made him. You placed the headphones over his ears and turned up the volume, blocking out the storm. You could tell it was working by the way he relaxed against all of you, and his eyes began to drift shut. In the blink of an eye, he was asleep. These episodes took a lot out of him. Once you realized he was finally safe, you felt tears fall down your cheeks. Herc pulled you against his chest without a word. Seeing Alex so afraid got to you, no matter what you did. Seeing your loved one so distressed and being unable to ease his pain crushed you, all of you. The four of you whispered to each other for a bit, discussing the night, sharing your feelings, comforting each other. Eventually, you found enough peace to fall asleep.
In the morning, after the storm was nothing but a blurry memory, Alex would profusely apologize, despite you telling him it was unnecessary, and it seemed like he would spend weeks trying to make it up to you all. It didn’t matter, though. You loved him. Nothing he ever did would make you stop loving him.
Premise: modern au - Lafayette is feeling homesick on Bastille Day, and it’s up to John, Alexander, and Hercules to cheer him up.

“Guys can you please shut up?” John moaned as Hercules and Alexander animatedly discussed the latter’s newest legal case. “The movie’s starting!”
Indeed, the artsy opening credits had stopped and given way to the first scene of Amélie. Alexander shut up, pouting, and Hercules quickly kissed him and promised that they would finish talking later.
“Can we please put the subtitles on?” Hercules asked after a moment of quiet viewing from their living room couch.
“When are you going to learn French, Herc?” John sighed, switching back to the menu and putting on the captions. “Literally everyone else speaks it.”
“Hey, I know a little bit! I just can’t follow when they talk so goddamn fast.”
They restarted the movie, and John perched himself at the front of the couch, shushing anyone that tried to talk over it. A few minutes into the movie, Alex pulled John into a hug, begging him to relax. John eventually cuddled into Alexander’s side, but continued to side-eye anyone who made a comment.
It became clear, though, that the only people that were talking over the movie were Alex and Hercules; Laf was remaining uncharacteristically quiet. Nestled between Herc and the armrest of the couch, Laf watched the movie with a growing feeling of sadness in the pit of his stomach.
By the end of the movie, tears were coursing silently down his face, but no one had taken notice yet. When the credits rolled, Herc absently held Laf’s hand. To Herc’s surprise, the Frenchman stayed where he was. Usually, Laf would have cuddled onto his shoulder.
Turning to look at him, Herc noticed his boyfriend’s tears. “Laf! What’s wrong?” he asked, pulling him in for a hug.
John and Alex turned around toward the commotion and saw for themselves the tears soaking Herc’s shoulder.
“Oh, baby!” John cried, rushing over to perch himself on the armrest by Laf and rubbing his back.
“What’s the matter?” Alex asked.
Laf sniffled and wiped at his eyes, removing his head from Herc’s shoulder. “C’est rien… Mais, demain c’est le 14 de juillet… Bastille Day, et… je voudrais être avec ma famille.”
(translation: It’s nothing… but tomorrow is July 14… Bastille Day, and… I want to be with my family.)
John sat himself in Laf’s lap and gave him a comforting hug, resting his head in the crook of the taller man’s neck. Herc rubbed his back consolingly, and Alex got up to get his boyfriend some chocolate.
Laf was grateful for the hugs (and the chocolate – Alex knew the key to his heart), but he was still feeling unbearably homesick.
They all went to their bedroom and got in a big cuddly lump. John squirmed in between Laf and Hercules, curling into his homesick boyfriend’s chest, and Alex cuddled Laf from behind, placing a kiss on his shoulder.
Laf felt comforted, but still troubled as he drifted slowly asleep.
Laf was the last to wake up the next morning. When he sat up and looked around, he noticed the bed was empty. Trying not to feel hurt, he stood up and walked out into the kitchen, where he could hear conversation at a low volume. All of his boyfriends were mulling around in there; Hercules was cooking breakfast, Alex was making coffee, and John was sitting at the kitchen table, doodling in his notebook.
As soon as Laf entered, the room fell silent. John ran over and crushed him in a hug, murmuring, “Happy Bastille Day,” into his chest.
He couldn’t help but laugh, kissing John’s curls. “You know, in France, we don’t say ‘joyeux fête bastille!’ ou quoi que ce soit… it is just another day off. But my family used to set off fireworks at the lake and we would have a big dinner…”
(translation: … ‘happy Bastille Day!’ or whatever…)
Alex smiled sympathetically, knowing well how it felt to miss home and family. He glanced over at Herc, who gave an almost imperceptible nod of his head.
John pulled away from Laf, squeezing his hand, and Alexander walked up to the Frenchman, taking his other hand.
“John and Herc have to work today, but… would you want to go out? We can go to the art gallery, or the museum, or we could just walk around! What do you say?”
Laf smiled, kissing Alex’s nose. “That sounds amazing, mon chou.”
Alexander grinned as Hercules announced that breakfast was ready. It was a delicious array of foods; bacon, pancakes, eggs, toast… Herc had gone all-out this morning.
After they’d finished up, John and Herc left for work and Laf went to get dressed for his and Alex’s date. While Laf got ready (it always took him forever), Alexander cleaned the entire kitchen, texting with his two absent boyfriends.
Laf finally came out of the room, looking fabulous as always in a trendy button-down shirt and tight jeans.
“You look great,” Alex grinned, blush rising in his cheeks as he frantically tried to straighten his own shirt.
“As do you,” Laf purred, scooping Alex into a hug. “Shall we go?”
“Uh-huh,” Alex said, emerging from the embrace looking notably flushed.
They left, their first stop being the art gallery. For some reason, Alex was dawdling by every piece, talking for 10 minutes about the artist and the meaning behind the creation. Laf found it cute, but once they’d spent four hours in the gallery, he’d had enough.
“Do you want to go somewhere else?” Laf asked tiredly, as Alexander finished his 5-minute speech about the brush strokes used by Van Gogh.
“The museum?” Alex suggested, his eyes sparkling.
Laf sighed and kissed Alex quickly. “You are adorable, and I love you, but there is no way we are going to the museum. You will never shut up.”
Alex blushed at the compliment, but then pouted. “Well, where do you want to go then?” he asked.
“We could go for a walk…?”
Alex checked his watch. “Or a movie!” he cried. “Can we go see La-La Land? Please?”
Laf rolled his eyes and took Alex’s hand. “Let’s go.”
They stopped for lunch first, and then went to the movie theatre. La-La Land was great, but sadder than Alex had hoped… the plan for today was to cheer him up, not bring him down.
Once it had ended, Alex wiped away the tears on Laf’s face and kissed him. “Sorry it was sad, minou.”
“C’est d’accord, mon chou,” Laf replied, kissing Alex again. Alexander checked his watch.
“Do you want to go home?” he asked, cupping Laf’s face. The Frenchman nodded, and they left the theatre together, taking the subway back to their apartment. Laf was certainly feeling a little happier than he had last night, but his heart was still aching for his family back home.
When they arrived at their apartment, a sneaky little smile appeared on Alexander’s face.
“What is that face about?” Laf asked.
“You’ll see,” Alex grinned back, and opened the door.
“JOYEUX FÊTE NATIONALE!” John and Hercules cried as soon as the door had opened. Laf’s jaw dropped. The entire apartment was decorated in red, white, and blue streamers and balloons, with French flags hanging everywhere. A massive feast was waiting in the kitchen, complete with authentic French wine, cheese, and croissants.
Tears sparkled in Laf’s eyes as John attacked him with a hug and kiss, Alex cuddled into his side, and Hercules wrapped his arms around all of them.
“Herc made the dinner,” John said after they’d all pulled apart.
“And John decorated the place!” Herc chimed in, side-hugging John and kissing his head.
“And I distracted you!” Alex piped up, and Herc crushed him in a side-hug as well.
“I thought you two had to work!” Laf cried emotionally.
Herc detached himself from John and Alex and embraced Laf. “You’re more important than work, chou-fleur,” he said before kissing him tenderly.
They all sat down and had an amazing dinner. Laf was so touched by his partners’ generosity that he began to forget his homesickness. The night was filled with laughter, and by ten o’clock, Lafayette had a huge smile on his face.
“You have made my July 14th wonderful, cheris,” Laf said. “Merci à tous.”
“The night’s not over yet!” John grinned, taking Laf’s hand on the table.
They left the apartment, venturing along, Laf in a happy daze, unsure of where they were going. They took a few subway rides and walked for long periods of time before they finally came to their destination, the Hudson.
“Why are we here?” Laf asked, leaning on the railing to look out over the river.
Alex slung his backpack off his shoulders and opened it to reveal a bundle of fireworks. Laf’s jaw dropped.
“You said your family used to set off fireworks…” John began.
“… so maybe your new family can too,” Herc finished, grinning.
Eyes shining, Laf kissed all of them. “Je vous aime, cheris,” he said. And he had never felt more loved.

.
It was a casual Saturday afternoon and you were lounging in your boyfriends living room. Alex and Lafayette were snuggled up on the love seat, while you were cuddled up between John and Hercules. You were laying back against Hercules with your legs strewn over Johns lap. He was lazily running his fingers up down your legs and he slowly made his trail higher to your side.
You were completely content, when Johns fingers brushed against your side and you jumped a little and couldn’t contain your giggle. The boys immediately turned to look at you.
“Are you ticklish, baby girl?” Johns asks with a wide grin.
“Maybe,” you reply with a coy smile.
“Mon ange, we did not know this,” Laf voice is full of wonder and excitement.
“Its a new discovery,” Herc smiles down at you and runs his fingers down your side, making you laugh and wiggle again, making all the boys laugh along.
“I think we should properly test out this new theory,” Alex say as he rises from his seat.
You start to sit up and smirk as your feet touch the ground.
“You’ll have to catch me first.”
You bolt up from your place on the couch just barely missing Alex's reach.
You sprint around the kitchen and you know john has joined the chase by the sound of the foot steps. You catch a glimpse of Hercules grinning form the couch and Lafayette going to join his side as you sprint down the hallway.
“Should we interrupt, mon couer?” He asks while snuggling into Hercs side.
He laughs as he replies, pulling Laf closer.
“We’ll give them a few minutes.”
You make a quick turn down the hallway and decide to go into the bedroom. You quickly hide in the closet as your hear John and Alex slip down the hallway giving you a few seconds of time. They run into the bedroom a few seconds later.
“Where is she?” John wonders.
“I could’ve sworn I saw her come in here,” Alex squints his eyes, looking around.
You cover your mouth to hold in your giggle.
“Let's go check the office,” you hear Alex say.
You smile triumphantly from hiding spot thinking you’ve fooled them. You slowly open the door, trying to be as quiet as possible. Just as you fully step out you’re pulled into Alex’s chest and you squeal as John lifts you into his arms and jumps on the bed. Alex and John tickle your sides and you laugh out and wiggle around on the bed.
“I surrender!” You laugh out as they continue.
“What was that?” Alex inquires, pausing just a moment as John does the same.
“I surrender,” you answer breathless.
“You sure?” John asks this time leaning in closer.
You nod seriously. You wait as they both move in closer to kiss you and as they’re distracted you quickly move out from under them.
“Hey,” they both shout in unison.
You don’t get far as Alex grabs you and pulls you back onto the bed, as you laugh out.
“You think you’re so funny, huh?”
He and John begin their onslaught once more.
“Okay, okay!” You laugh. “I surrender for real this time!”
“What?” John pretends not to hear you.
“Couldn’t make that out, love.”
“Someone save me,” you shout out so Herc and Laf could hear you.
A few moments later you hear footsteps coming down the hall.
“Alright, alright, that’s enough,” you hear Hercules voice, “leave our lovely lady be.”
John and Alex both pause, and chuckle as you catch your breath. Lafayette comes to pick you up holding you in his arms.
“Oui, mes amours, she must be handled delicately,” he says as he kisses your cheek and nose gently.
You smile and nuzzle into him. He sets you down and Hercules is waiting to embrace you. You quickly jump into his arms.
“How can I ever thank you for your grand rescue?” You ask dramatically.
“A kiss is all ask of you sweet lady,” he plays along with you not missing a beat.
“I’m more than happy to oblige, kind sir,” you reply reaching up to press your lips to his.
You pull apart, resting your foreheads together and laugh.
“I’m feeling very neglected right now,” Alex pouts.
“Me too, babe,” John joins.
You turn to them and look at them both sympathetically.
“I’m sorry, my loves, you’re right.”
You smile widely as you tackle the pair on the bed and press kisses to each of their faces, reciting, ‘I love you, I love you, I love you’, in between each kiss. They both held you close laughing and trying to match every kiss you gave.
The three of you smiled at each other. Herc and Laf looked loving at the three of you.
“May we join, mes amours?”
“Thats the only thing that would make this even better,” you answer.
Herc and Laf both jump on the bed, Laf pulling you into his arms and nuzzling your neck.
Alex turns to face you. “That was a fun new discovery,” he smiled gently, brushing hair away from your face.
“I hope we can discover a lot more,” John smiles.
“Well, we have time,” Herc looks lovingly at you.
“As long as you’ll keep me.”
“Forever then,” Laf replies, holding you close and kisses you behind you ear.

You had always been afraid of storms. The loud crash of thunder always made your heart race and if the lights went out it just got worse. You hated thunder storms, they made you feel jumpy and nervous, petrified of something you couldn’t control at all. For most, thunderstorms were no big deal, just a part of the weather. You never felt much need to mention it, most of the time it slipped your mind until the moment a storm started.
You had been with your boys for three blissful months and luckily for you there had been no storms in sight. Unfortunately, your luck had run out.
It was a quiet evening, you were in the kitchen with Lafayette, helping him with dinner. Alex and John had decided to work in the dining room in an effort to be close to the rest of you and Hercules was sketching away designs at the kitchen bar smiling to himself, while you and Laf sang in hushed tones to each other.
You were so enthralled in your haven that the crash of thunder caught you completely off guard.
CRASH!
You jump, nearly dropping the bowl in your hands. You start to go into a state of panic, but do your best to control it with steady breathing.
“Are you alright, mon ange?” Laf asks, placing a gentle hand on your shoulder.
Hercules looks up from his work, looking to see if you’re alright.
You nod quickly. “I’m fine, the thunder just caught me off guard.”
Laf nods and looks down at your shirt.
“Mon couer, your shirt is a mess.”
You look down to inspect your shirt to find Laf was correct. You must have spilled sauce on yourself when you had gotten startled.
“Oops, I guess I’ll go change.” You say looking up at Laf and Herc. “Can I borrow a shirt from one of you?”
“Anyone you’d like, my love,” Alex answers from his seat at the dining table.
“Mine are up for grabs, baby girl,” John smiles at you from the table.
You smile back and quickly nod, making your way to the bedroom.
You decide on a soft old band tee that you’re sure is Johns and just as you pull your shirt over your head, there's another crash of thunder.
You curl into a ball and cover your ears.
“No, no, no, no, no, no, no,” you mumble to yourself as will yourself to breathe.
In, out. In, out. In-
You cringe as another crash of thunder echoes around the room and the way the wind is blowing against the windows makes you feel as if the storm is trying to get inside.
“You’re fine, you’re fine,” you repeat to yourself, trying to keep yourself calm and your tears at bay as clutch Johns shirt to your chest.
“That storm sounds awful,” John says as lightning and thunder crash at once.
“It looks like it's getting worse by the minute,” Hercules agrees, looking out the window.
“We should get the flashlights and candles ready in case, mon amour,” Laf tells Hercules.
He nods and starts to go get them, but pauses when he realizes you’re still absent.
“Did (Y/N) come back out?”
The boys all shake their heads. Hercules begins to worry and goes down the hall to retrieve the flashlights and candles with John following behind. As they make it to the hallway closet, they hear your muffled voice. You sound distressed and they quickly enter the room. They’re by your side as soon as they see you curled up on the floor.
“Baby girl, whats wrong?” John is panicked by your state.
Hercules gently pulls your hands from your head, and as you look up at him he can see tears rolling down your cheeks.
“Cupcake, are you hurt?” He begins trying to look for any cuts on you.
You shake your head and try to breathe, but every breath comes out shaky.
“I-I’m af-f-fraid of thu-thunder sstorms,” you stutter out.
“Sweetheart,” he says tenderly, he pulls you onto his lap.
You immediately bury your face into his chest and clutch onto him.
“John, love, will you get a glass of water for her please.”
John nods quickly and races to the kitchen.
“What's wrong, mon couer?”
“Our girl is afraid of thunder storms and she’s having a panic attack.”
Alex is out of his seat and bolting to the bedroom. Lafayette and John are quick to follow.
“My love,” Alex whispers tenderly, rubbing a soothing hand across your back.
You lift your face to look at Alex, he raises his hand to wipe the tears away from your cheeks.
“I’m sorry.”
He shakes his head softly.
“There’s nothing to be sorry for,” he smiles softly at you as you lean into his gentle touch.
“Here, baby girl,” John is by your side again, “drink some water.”
He holds the glass to your lips and you take a few sips.
“Mon ange,” you feel Lafayette's hand on the back of head.
You look up at him, and he smiles gently, lightly rubbing your head.
“Why didn’t you tell us?”
You shrug your shoulders.
“It wasn’t really on my mind.”
They all nod.
Another crash and you curl into Hercules chest again. Alex grabs your hand in his and kisses your palm. When you look up at him, he smiles.
“We need blankets, pillows, and the flashlights,” he smirks and kisses your wrist. “We’re building a fort.”
You laugh softly, and he feels triumphant when he sees the small smile on your face.
“That’s not necessary.”
“It absolutely is, baby girl.” John smiles and kisses your cheek, before following Alex to set things up.
Lafayette reaches for you and pulls you into his chest gently.
“Let's get you comfortable, ma cherie.”
You realize that you’re still not wearing a shirt, your cheeks flush. He smiles tenderly and softly traces your cheek.
“I’m gonna go help set up,” Herc kisses your temple, before exiting the room.
Laf helps you find a set of pajama bottoms so that you’re comfortable and as soon as you’re done he lifts you into his arms.
“You don’t have to carry me around,” you tell him. Your actions contradict your words as you lean into him.
“Hush, mon doux amour, let us take care of you.”
When you make it to the living room, John is waiting in the middle of the fort with open arms.
“I’m ready for you, sweet girl.’
You smile and snuggle into him, as he wraps his arms around you and kisses the top of your head.
Before you know it your lovers surround you on both sides. John and Hercules on your left, Alex and Lafayette on your right. Your boys distract you with stories, and jokes, making you laugh, each of them relieved to see your beautiful smile.
When you do hear another crash of thunder as you’ve all settled down, you only jump slightly.
“You alright, love?” Alex asks sweetly touching your face and holding you close.
“I’m okay,” you nod.
“Are you sure?” John asks from behind you, snuggling into you.
“I’m sure, with you all by my side, its not so scary.” You smile. “I’m protected.”
“You know,” Hercules starts, “if you moved in with us, we’d always be able to protect you from any storm that might come.”
“You want me to move in with you?”
You’re surprised by the statement and look at each of them to make sure they were all on board with the idea. They each smile lovingly at you.
“Of course we do, mon couer, we miss you so much when you’re gone.”
“And if you move in with us, we can snuggle like this every night,” John adds, nuzzling your neck and making you giggle.
“I do like that.”
“We’ve never been more sure, love,” Alex smiles sweetly and rubs your side where his hand is resting. “What do you say?”
“There’s nothing that would make me happier.”
You’re smooshed between the four of them and laugh as they each try to hug and kiss you at once. Storms were scary but as long as you had your boys they weren’t so bad.

You had been doing so well lately. You were genuinely happy. School was going well, you had great friends and a wonderful relationship with four of the most wonderful men in the world. They were sweet, kind, patient, and understanding. They loved you so much and always reminded you of that fact. They loved you completely so when they asked you to move in with them you were more than happy…..
“Hey cupcake,” Herc grabs your attention from the show you’re watching snuggled up to him on the couch. “Can we ask you something?”
You look up at him and see all of the boys smiling encouragingly.
“Sure,” you shrug.
“We want you to know no matter what your answer,” Alex starts, “we love you .”
“And if you feel its too much, that’s okay,” Laf is quick to add gently taking your hand in his.
“Okay,” you say slowly, growing a little more cautious.
“Baby girl, we were wondering,” John begins.
“Hoping,” Alex cuts in.
“Wondering,” Herc cuts in this time, “if you would consider moving in with us?”
You pause a moment processing what they’re saying, asking before your confusion fades and a smile spreads across your face.
“You really want me to move in,” you ask, looking at each of them.
“Yes, mon ange,” Laf kisses your hand, “we do.”
“We miss you so much when you’re not here,” John adds.
“And we figured the solution would be to have you be here with us,” Alex finishes.
“What do you say, cupcake?” Herc smiles at down at you while you look up at him. “Move in with us?”
“I would love to move in with you!” You say, smiling. “As long as you’re sure,” you add never wanting to be an ‘inconvenience’.
John is the first to jump up and pull you into his arms.
“Yes! Baby girl, we’ve never been more sure of anything in our lives.”
He kisses you soundly and holds you tightly.
“We’ve wanted to ask you for awhile, but we didn’t want rush you.” Alex is next to take you in his arms nuzzling your neck as he speaks.
“The only thing we’ve been more sure of ,” Laf starts as he takes you in his arms next, looking deeply into your eyes. “Is how much we all love you.”
He kisses you sweetly, before Herc has you back in his arms again.
“And now that you’ve agreed,” he rests his forehead against yours, “we couldn’t be happier.”
“Neither could I,” you say, reveling in the love you found with your boys.
*****
That was all five months ago and everything had been going smoothly, but as the boys got busy more recently, those terrible thoughts started running through your head. Thoughts you hadn’t had in a long time, something you thought you were done with. The self doubt, dread, and cruel thoughts flooding you without warning.
It had been going on for about four weeks, the boys schedules had become hectic and school seemed to be more difficult, more demanding than usual and your grades had started to slip. You were starting to stress and the boys were distracted by their own work, so it was hard to lean on them. You felt like you didn’t want to add on to their stress. You didn’t want to be a burden.
The thoughts, feelings started to creep into your mind. Why can’t you just handle this yourself? Why can’t you be better? Can’t you handle this? Why are you so useless? You started to feel anxious and not good enough, and your old habits started calling to you. You did your best to ignore it all, but one week later and you couldn’t take it.
You were sitting in the bathroom, your apartment was empty and the thoughts rampaging through your mind. You look over at Lafs razor, he had one of those old fashioned, single bladed ones. You get up going over and looking to see if he had any replacement razors. You find one. You stare it in your hand. You’re not sure how long you stand there and just stare, contemplate. The razor is just above your skin, all you have to do is press down with a little pressure.
As your thinking about just pressing down, the boys return home. They walk in, knowing you should be home already. Alex walks down the hall and sees the bathroom door is open with the light on. He smiles knowing you were probably home and wanted to surprise you. He walks quietly before reaching the doorway.
“Fancy meeting you here, gorge"-
He stops as he sees what you’re about to do. Your eyes widen, the razor still clutched between your fingers, hovering over your skin.
“(Y/N) WHAT ARE YOU DOING?” He yells.
You startle looking up at him. The boys rush down the hall, hearing Alex’s outburst.
“What is it?”
“Whats going on?”
“Qu'est-il arrivé?”
They all ask at once, before turning to see you frozen in place, in the position
“(Y/N), baby, what are you doing?” Johns voice is quiet but panicked.
“Cupcake, put that down, right now.”
Tears start rolling down your cheeks, shaking your head. Laf is the one who goes to you.
“Mon ange, you cant do this,” he says grabbing your hand holding the razor. “Let go,” he says when your grip doesn’t loosen. “Now, mon ange.”
You finally remove your hold on the razor and he takes it from you. He takes your hand, looking at each of your lovers silently telling them to follow as he leads from the bathroom into the living room. Once you’re settled Alex begins, not able to contain himself.
“What the hell were you thinking?!”
“Why? Baby, why would you do this?!”
“Cupcake, what in the world would make you want to do this? To even consider it?”
They all look at you expectantly, waiting for your answer.
“I"- you start and stop. “I don’t know okay?!” You start to sob. “Everything has been so stressful and chaotic, and I just felt- felt useless and lost and I just wanted to some relief, to feel something else!”
“That’s not how you deal with stress or sadness, love,” Alex says, softer now, less angry more concerned.
“And you are far from useless, mon ange,” Lafs hand cups your face gently. “We need you very much.”
“We love you so much, cupcake,” Herc is next to hold you, taking your hand and kissing your palm. Laying your hand over his heart.
“You don’ t know how heartbroken we would be if we ever lost you, baby girl,” John says taking you in his arms and holding you close.
The boys join and you’re surrounded by all the love they have for you.
“I’m sorry,” you sob out, your face buried in Johns chest.
They pull away, John wiping away your tears and Alex rubbing soothing circles into your back, before turning you to face him.
“My love, please don’t cry,” he says, trying to wipe your streaming tears away. “Please just tell us what you need next time. Don’t try to hurt yourself , let us be here for you, let us love you.” He brushes hair out your face. “Let us help you, whenever you need it.”
“Please, mon ange.”
“We can’t lose you.”
“It would break us, baby girl.”
You look at each of your loves feeling guilty, but also never feeling more loved in your entire life. It was undeniable, shining in their eyes as they looked at you, concerned and longing.
“I promise, next time I’ll come to you,” you look at each them, hoping they could see all the love you had for them. “You won’t lose me.”
They pull you into an embrace and you’re once again surrounded by their love and you revel in it.
*********
You keep your promise and a few months later when those feelings start creeping up on you, you go to them. You tell them how you’re feeling and they’re quick to console and reassure you, letting you know how loved and cherished and important you are.
The more you learn to lean on them and believe their words and actions of love. The less those thoughts creep into your mind. You’re happier and brighter than ever, knowing no matter what you had people who loved and cared for you more than anything and you were worth so much more than you realized. Carrying that with you, along with the love you had for your boys, you knew you could get through anything with them by your side. Their unwavering love never let you down.
