Lauren knew that going out alone on Valentine’s Day was kind of pathetic, but oh well. It’s not like she was the only single girl in Chicago on this day, right? Ever since her most recent break up, she found herself spending every single Valentine’s Day by herself. It wasn’t like they could compare, and honestly, she was far too busy to be having random dates with people from Tinder. So she was stuck at Stella’s Diner, eating a salad and drinking coffee by herself. She finally noticed someone setting at the table across from her, noticing that they’d been alone for quite sometime now, just like her. She gave them a knowing smile, quirking her eyebrow as she tried to figure out if someone was joining her anytime soon. After a moment, Lauren decided to finally say something. “Not to sound like an asshole, but it sucks being alone on Valentine’s Day, right?” She was mostly being sarcastic, just trying to start some kind of conversation with someone else. Lauren honestly wanted to forget that her brother was spending the day with a young girl being romantic and gross. She took a long sip of her fresh coffee, not bothering with creamer of sugar. “It’s not like I’m bitter. It’s fine. Whatever, you know?”
