So I came across Survivor's Guilt last night and stayed up til 1am reading both parts. It was so, so good! I don't always read ff that still stays in my mind long after I've read it, but yours (and verbam's Picking Up What You'e Laying Down) are too great to forget. I can't wait for the next part!

So just curious if anyone else thought this (I was reminded when I saw your post about Jasper) but when Alie said "they have the (part from dropship)" how did she know? We see Octavia with the chip in her hand and then it cuts to Alie making a face and saying they had it. Did she just assume they did since that's what she saw through Hannah? Or did Octavia maybe take the chip and we didn't see? I keep thinking about that part but I could just be freaking out about more people going to the CoL.

Hannah heard Monty say he had the part before she attacked him, so when Monty killed her, ALIE knew that Monty and Octavia were going to get away with the part. (Octavia didn’t take it- that’d be an interesting twist but we’d have had hints of it later in the ep, not her being loving with Raven and the delinquents) That shot of Octavia with the ship is TOTAL foreshadowing - it’s letting us know that someone (one of our heroes, most likely) will be taking that chip sometime soon. 

The question then becomes, then, who takes it? Is it voluntary? Despite the fact that she’s the one holding it, it won’t be O, because that’s just not her style at all, and her character (grief) arc makes the most sense if it it completed outside the COL I think. From finale spoilers, I think it’s a safe bet that Jasper ingests the chip, but the question is why he would do it after what the delinquents faced with Raven?

The only one of the group I could possibly see contemplating taking the chip voluntarily is Monty. Perhaps he becomes convinced that he can see his mother again in the COL? And since they now have an idea about how to fry the chip he thinks he’ll be saved? Some people think Jasper will take the chip in an attempt to keep Monty from it, but idk. I think Monty’s too smart for that honestly.

I have a couple of amorphous ideas about how Jasper might take the chip (these prob won’t happen but it’s fun to speculate!).

1) Jasper is dying/bleeding out/in some kind of imminent danger and he/someone else thinks/hopes the only way to save him is to give him the chip. Again, idk why one of the delinquents would do this but it’s possible, and I also have a feeling Jasper is dying this season (I WISH IT WERENT SO I LOVE MY SON! if season 2 mj were reading this she would rejoice but im not that person anymore)

2) Someone forcefeeds Jasper the chip. Maybe he runs into an ALIE zombie who overpowers him (doesn’t look like it’d be that hard tbh) and forces it on him, OR, more interestingly, maybe it’s Emerson. So we all know that’s Emerson in the big ugly grounder garb haunting the delinquents next week (you can tell it’s him in the trailer and he’s listed for the ep), so maybe he picks up that the chip is something the kids don’t want to take so he shove it down Jasper’s throat for spite. Or maybe Emerson has run into the ALIE robots in exile and learned about the chip, and thinks it’s a fitting revenge (it would be ironic if the last Mountain Man killed/chipped Jasper considering how much the MW genocide hurt Jasper as well, and that seems like something this show is sick enough to do.)

ANYWAY that was a bunch of gibberish that won’t happen and I know you were asking a clarifying question not for prediction but OH WELL

feels nice to be excited about this show again :)
