Smell (How good they smell/how likely they are to have something that smells overpowering on them like blood, perfume, chemicals, etc) ★★★ He smells strongly sea brine regardless of the fact that he hasn't been near the sea or salt water in sweeps.

Comfort (How likely they are to give you that warm safe fuzzy feeling) ★★★★ He's a cozy sort of hugger, even if he is a little eel twink, so I think he'd be pretty comforting.

Softness (if they're wearing something that feels nice or is sharp. Are they fairly pointy or rounded) ★★ He's been gaining some weight recently, but he's still very bony so...Not too soft lmao.

Timing (Can they hit that sweet spot between too short and too long, or are they unpracticed and awkward) ★★ He'd be a little awkward about it and it'd err on the side of shorter rather than longer.

So Laures and Therus are in like a psuedo-moirallegience? Or would that be more like auspicism minus the third person? :o

Their relationship is strictly platonic; More of a 'You scratch my back and I'll scratch yours' sort of deal because Therus knows if he were alone he would be...Less stable than he is now.

They're bound by exterior ties (Both being from Dubhithe, and having the mutual loved one of Laures' sister/Therus' matesprit) but had no reason to separate and in fact, had more to gain by staying together.

He and Therus aren't, and were never actually that close, but since they left together and Laures needed protection + Therus needed someone to rein him in, they stuck together.

Therus paused his work, and raised his head.

It was a subtle sensation, but it felt almost as though some weight had been lifted, something that had been slowly but surely throttling him.

Still, he could instinctually sense where Dubhithe was, even through his blindfold, and that brought him some comfort. He resumed his work, and made no mention of the passing sensation to Laures when he returned to the hive that day.

A few evenings later he removed the bandages over his eyes to do some cooking- He had to see to some extent, no matter how keen his sense of smell was, he didn’t want to risk cutting off his own fingers. As he went to put the bandages back on, he paused once more, wondering for what reason he wore them if not out of habit.

It was fear of something. Something nameless, terrible, and inescapable, that would take his mind if he saw too much. But that fear was gone, faded into a hazy memory like a dream.

During a moment where he could let his dinner simmer, he stepped away and trimmed his bangs in the mirror. There was no reason leaving them to hide his eyes, now.

When he went to bring Laures dinner, he was hung limply over the edge of the tank, and he looked exhausted as he raised his head.

“You cut your hair.”

“Aye.” Therus set the tray with Laures’ dinner on the table next to the tank.

“...Do you not fear...” Laures trailed off.

“No. I cannot tell where Dubhithe lies anymore, either.”

Laures lowered his gaze, and slowly, painfully, moved upright.

“It feels different to me, too. My tail aches. That’s not uncommon, but it’s...Different. I don’t know how to describe it.”

Therus hummed, as though to indicate he understood and agreed. “Do you want to lie down?”

Laures paused, considering it, and then nodded. “After dinner, please.”

- his transition to this was pretty slow, beginning with his skin paling and his legs degrading. - the remnants of his legs are still in the base of his tail; the bones are all broken up now - no true gills but has small shallow slits on his chest and face - his horns fell off entirely and his fingertips/claws are extended, sharp bone - his skin is very thin, you can see most of his veins through it - his blood is also kind of watery and thin
