@lauriegold asked ; ‘ are you serious! ’
𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒕𝒆𝒏𝒔𝒊𝒐𝒏 𝒊𝒏 𝒕𝒉𝒊𝒔 𝒉𝒐𝒖𝒔𝒆 𝒘𝒂𝒔 𝒑𝒂𝒍𝒑𝒂𝒃𝒍𝒆 . they’d been so close to a newfound freedom . the lincoln , the suicide note , the girl’s disappearance . why couldn’t they just be free from this ! he believed in their son . he did . but there was just no escaping this . he’d remembered slurred words & alcohol on his breath , a moment of weakness . he’d confessed it all . NO MORE SECRETS . THAT’S WHAT SHE’D WANTED . he was packing the glassware in the kitchen when she’d come home . jacob had a meeting with his tutor at the library today probably one of the last if all went well with the move . he’d thrown himself into packing the house in hopes that it would pack away the horror they had experienced here . another aspect of his life he was ready to shut the door on .
he was tired of the silence . he was tired of sleeping next to the body of a woman he once knew . 𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘸𝘪𝘧𝘦 𝘸𝘢𝘴 𝘴𝘵𝘪𝘭𝘭 𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘦 , 𝘸𝘢𝘴𝘯’𝘵 𝘴𝘩𝘦 ? there was still hope for this family , there had to be . he’d greeted her with the usual questions that only evoked one syllable answers . they’d once made fun of their son for his lack of communication & now his wife barely uttered a word . ❛ damn it laurie ! i can’t do this anymore . there has to be a way to move past this . ❜ his shoulders sagged forward , his arms crossed tightly over his chest . he leaned against the kitchen counter with a heaviness that indicated just how much he needed the support . yes he was serious . if anything , her reaction gave him hope that she was still willing to fight for this newfound sense of normalcy he craved . ❛ i don’t want to fight with you , i just i don’t know what else to do . we’re selling the house , we’re moving across the country . i don’t know what else to do . ❜
