He knew he should go somewhere else. A coffee shop, maybe, or a library—somewhere he could sit and rest out of the sun. Or perhaps he should just try to find Nick on his own. But Charlie found he didn’t have the energy to move. He sat on the curb next to his luggage, exhausted and seething, as he pulled out his phone to call his uncle. “Hi, Uncle Nick! It’s Charlie. I, er, I was wondering if you’re busy right now?” He did his best to keep his voice cheerful but he knew, deep down, that some of his anxiety had to be seeping through.
