So. It's finally happening.

So @gadjetomyart has officially made me cry with joy.

This is a glimpse into the future of LD, a peaceful moment yet to come. Minor spoilers I suppose.

Now, since Rocky is a proper deep fictional crush of mine, and Cecyl is my Lackadaisy representation... when I saw it for the first time it just felt so... real. Hit me square in the heart it did.

A day version and a night version. Exactly when the moment takes place I haven't figured out yet, but both are equally beautiful to me. It can work either way. And no, this is not the first kiss, I'd never spoil that!

Honestly best work yet, for me at least. Such a tender situation, with such sensitive loving energy... this is the point when everything settled, when it all became unquestionable for these two. What they felt, what they were, and what they wanted.

Just you wait until the fic gets there :3

Chapter 8 is almost finished! Just needs some final polish.

But it might take a while cause my life is currently really difficult, everything bad seems to be going down at once. I recently went to a funeral for my grandma and tomorrow I'm going to the funeral of a friend's mom.

Oh and my soulmate just went to the ER for heart pain. The paramedics didn't find anything worrying but he's going in to be checked on anyway. So yeah. That's fucking great 🙃

Lavender Dance - The Playlist

So I actually put this together a while ago and only just now realised it might be nice to show people.

Each song represents either an aspect of the story, a specific character, or certain part/moment.

Now, I won't mark this as spoilers because the songs pertaining to the ending are vague enough in my opinion that they serve more as teasers than anything else. However I will put a divider here for those who aren't interested at all/want to keep going fully blind - this will reveal my thoughts and intentions behind the story so it may affect your opinion.

Aight, with that said, here we go!

First off, a hypothetical trailer theme.

If this was made into a full TV show or film, something like this would be my choice. This was originally made for the trailer for the movie "Hollywood" (worth a watch honestly imo) but I thought it fit LD aswell.

Next, a hypothetical anime intro!

It's tradition to imagine any TV show/story being made in Japan and given the anime treatment. This, which is probably best known as the s4 intro for Dr. Stone, I thought fit the bill! It was also discovered and inspired by this post from scribbletropolis

Of course we need an american/western intro too

It's more likely that something like this would be made into an american indie animation show, so here's my choice of song to license for that!

Here comes a few character-specific songs, kind of like themes if you will. First off, Cecyl

Cecyl's always been someone followed by misfortune and hardship, often not by choice or fault of their own. Their very presence endangers their peers, and themselves to boot.

Of course, next to Cecyl, we have Rocky

He wants to be everyone's golden boy, he really does. But his unhinged nature, level of naivety, and ultimately a messed up inner life, makes that nigh impossible. With his mind he's destined for the stars, but he's crash landed on the moon.

Now we turn to more specific and story-related songs. This next one represents Cecyl's past.

Cecyl was an orphan nearly from birth. They grew up in the system, and their life took a turn when they turned 18. More than that is spoilers, so that's what you get for now.

This one represents the story's vibe as whole.

Dark pasts and bad decisions leading to destruction, chaos, and suffering but with a light at the end of the tunnel.

Run Boy, Run fits the two main characters as well as much of the wider cast.

Lackadaisy is all about running from or to a past, good or bad. This is also reflected in Lavender Dance of course.

Obligatory romance part!

And of course, the whole fic is a romance drama so we have to have a song representing the various relationships in the story.

Epilogue! Bittersweet, upbeat and emotional.

After LD, after canon, when the world moves on and new adventures begin, this is what I think of what Rocky and the Lackadaisy leaves behind.

Lavender Dance: Updated Summary

I rewrote the fic summary for LD to make it fit better what the fic is about, and it also serves as an extra motivator to work on the rewrite so I can proceed with chapter 8 and onwards

"Before Atlas died and the Lackadaisy fell from grace, there was a time when Rocky Rickaby wasn't much more than a poet and violinist for a houseband. During his time working for the Mays, his manic tendencies and unhinged spirit was a double edged sword for the organisation, and many cats would consider it a miracle that he managed to stay. If you ask him he might say it was mostly luck, but if you pry you might find the truth; That it wasn't so much a "what", but a "who".

Mayhem comes in many forms, with the good always comes the bad, and sometimes all it takes is the presence of one person to dramatically shift the lives of so many for better or worse. This is the first act in the tale of Cecyl Clearwater's tumultuos time working with the Lackadaisy, how they met the love of their life, and ultimately turned the city of St. Louis upside down".
