Well he's an orphan and is adopted by Jameson's family because his mother wanted another son but could not bare. He and Jameson become very close to each other while their father ignored them and their mother. He learns about his magic from an accident where he and Jameson were playing near a train track and Jameson fell as the train was coming but since he twisted his ankle and Marvin was around 10 or 12 at the time whereas Jamie was 20, he couldn't pick him up. His magic flourished at the time and he saved him. Later on after he told his mother about it, she helped him with it even making him his mask. His wand is something that his father gave him and the cape Jameson made him. Jameson and Marvin treat each others as family but Marvin tried not to make a connection with them because he feels in his heart that his real family will come back. (Now for Jameson!) Jameson is a French assassin who got his vocal cords ripped out after a job gone wrong. (2/3)
He never told Marvin but instead just says he was born mute. Marvin has some ideas cause if the scar on his neck but never asks him about it. Eventually after Marvin gets into magic fully at a show that flopped, he meets Jackie and the rest is a secret. (3/3)

I have a headcannon where Jameson is Marvin's adoptive older brother (Marvin's the one's who's adopted). Jameson used to be an assassin in France before he got his vocal cords ripped (sliced) through from someone retaliating against him. Chase hires him to get rid of certain woman he doesn't like and pays him heavily. (I'm writing a story with this in it).
